Can UK pharmacist prescribe emergency Ventolin

Hoping someone can offer some advice. We are in Manchester this weekend (Irish citizens). We lost my son's Ventolin coming through security. Does anyone know if we could get an emergency one when we are over there? No AIBU , posting for traffic
Thanks

In my experience yes, but it will depend on the pharmacist so I don't want to give you a blanket yes. Last time we had to do this it cost £30 about a year ago.

Yes they should but you might need to ring 111 to get an emergency prescription through them if the pharmacy doesn't want to do it

Thank you, hoping if we call our pharmacist at home maybe it might help.

Yes. Phone NHS 111 and they will arrange somewhere for you to pick it up. When this happened to me a couple if years ago I had to pick it up at a hospital rather than a pharmacy but it was in my hands within about 4 hours of making the phone call. The high street pharmacists couldn’t help (I was surprised at that).

An alternative route is using an online pharmacy on next day delivery ie not phoning 111, just paying for the private prescription.

Yes I've had to do this. You can buy ventolin online from super drug or probably other drug stores and click or collect or have it sent. It takes 1-2 business days. I'd imagine if you are in desperate need you could speak to a pharmacist and maybe process it quicker in person, but Google buying ventolin online. It is a thing (thankfully!)

Thanks all, about to take off now.

Will hit the pharmacist first thing

I lost mine and the pharmacist wouldn't. I was really wheezy at the time as well. In the end I co tacted the Dr's who redid the prescription but changed the pharmacy to collect from as we were on holiday

ASDA used to sell ventolin inhalers. I’ve bought a few myself (a good few years ago, admittedly).
You just go t the in-store pharmacy and fill in some paperwork about your GP etc.

I’m not sure if they still offer this but worth checking out.
