I posted on litter tray but thought I’d post here so more people might see it. I rehomed a cat and sadly had to take her back as she was showing aggressive behavior towards my daughter and had diarrhoea which was going all around the house. I have a feeling that was unwell as she was quite skinny and I could feel her bones. We went for her as she was initially very friendly when we met her but when we got home she wasn’t at all and wasn’t taking to my daughter even just running past her she’d get scared and scratch/swipe at her.

The place is an outdoor cattery type place in somebody’s garden. There is pens for the rescue cats but they do also roam around in an enclosed bit and mix. Most are not vaccinated but they do spay/neuter them. But strays are also there unvaccinated also and they allow them to mix and I saw two cats fighting. Also, lots of mess around, mats piling up on the drive way with cat wee and vomit and lots of litter boxes left out with diarrhoea in them so I wonder if there is something going round or whether the cats aren’t treated for worms etc. the house is also very run down. Plus when we went to visit, I noticed they don’t properly vet people, they didn’t do a home check or ask for photos, didn’t ask what type of home we have etc. didn’t ask if we already had pets. so basically cats could be going to unsuitable homes and they don’t seem to be that bothered about it. Would you report ?

You were unreasonable to take the cat back there. Did you not take it to the vets to get it checked out?

MissMoneyFairy · 28/01/2025 13:05

Yes. It sounds like a kitten farm which is illegal. Rspca do fuck all, try cats protection too and the local vets.

I know but in the end they insisted if we weren’t to keep her then they needed her back there as they didnt want her going elsewhere. I didn’t as she hadn’t been with us long; I thought it was down to stress but then noticed the conditions were worse today than when we went

I'd actually get in touch with environmental health.

Yes, report it.

Sometimes people kid themselves they are a running an animal rescue service but it's actually more an animal hoarding situation and they can't cope with the upkeep but also won't accept any help. This sounds like that kind of situation.
