Dry January- now what

coming to the end of dry January and feel fantastic (better skin, lost weight, higher energy). I am in two minds about what to do next - is moderation really an option or do I keep going with sobriety? I am mostly worries about missing out on that shared bottle of wine, or glass of fizz at Christmas (but let’s be honest the reality of drinking is closer to starting out sharing one bottle and accidentally finishing three with friends). Anyone successfully moderated after dry jan?

I gave up drinking completely about a year ago as I realised the benefits didn't outweigh how awful it made me feel after. I will say that I do have the occasional drink now but it is when I am socialising for special occasions rather than drinking out of habit because it is Friday night or whatever.

I think you have to decide either, tonight I am going to drink freely, or, tonight I am not going to drink at all. It is more difficult to have to keep making the decision of whether to have another drink all night rather than making one decision and sticking to it.

If you feel like you're not able to moderate then full sobriety is the only way forward surely

I'm feeling absolutely fantastic after doing dry Jan and I'm definitely sober 'curious'..was drinking way too much before. I've decided I don't want to quite completely just yet and I'm probably going I drink socially but not at home. I'm sure there will be some fully sober posters thinking that will never work out but want to give it a try!

Absolutely this.
I am happy to share a bottle of 3 with friends. I know during social occasions I will enjoy the drinking that comes with it, usually with meals - tipsy but not smashed.
However, i can go for months without a drink or even “needing” a drink.
