To ask if anyone can interpret this dream ?

Just woken up from a dream.

I’m in what is supposedly a Xmas party and my teenage crush is there and I talk to him - and then he’s left the party!

I then speak to one of his good friends - another good looking, popular lad - and we have a good chat - but then he takes a phone call - on an old fashioned landline not mobile - and I’m at a loose end. After thr call he then says “sorry!” that he was on the phone and left me at a loose end. I said - “ah don’t worry, it’s fine!” but feel a bit foolish in front of everyone.

i then desperately want to leave the party, but have no one to say goodbye to, and feel I can’t just walk out or I’ll be criticised for being rude. My old school friend approaches me and I say I’m just gathering my things and going.

What’s weird is the Xmas party appears to take place in a school !

So what does this mean. Anyone ??!

It means nothing, it’s a dream.

Some dreams are meaningless.

If the dreams are associated with strong emotions - that can be an indication that something in real life is bothering you.

Ie a dream where you are very anxious - maybe related to something you are worried about.

I don’t know what was the strongest emotion in your dream - but maybe it’s that you are worried about letting opportunities in life go past you without grabbing hold of them? A bit of a reach, I know.

Thanks so much for responding !!

Although it’s a reach I think you’re spot on !!

Also I l think I’m a bit too much of a people pleaser and worry about what people think of me !

Strongest emotion was self consciousness and embarrassment

I think there is a fear of being abandoned. Is that how you feel now?
Because in these dreams, people have left you or are leaving you.

A bit …possibly .. you could be right … but then there’s me at the end then desperate to leave the ‘party’ and I feel I can’t !! So there’s the issue of me actively wanting to leave but can’t !

I wonder if your subconscious is ruminating about missed opportunities in your youth. Is there something you wish you had done differently when you were younger - e.g. followed a different career path? Do you worry that your old schoolfriends might have had more successful lives than you?

Bogginsthe3rd · 25/01/2025 13:22

This is a pretty classic dream for those that have underlying urge to treat Ian Duncan-Smith to an afternoon tea at the Ritz. Hope that helps.

GretchenWienersHair · 25/01/2025 13:26

I always think dreams are tied more to the emotions felt in the dream than the people or scenarios themselves. I don’t think the setting or the people involved in the dream are necessarily relevant; they could have just crossed your mind briefly at some point (so briefly, even, that you forgot you thought about them). It sounds to me like you have been worried/anxious about something. Maybe feeling embarrassed about something that happened to you during the day?

Oh gosh I’ve had a whole plethora of missed opportunities from aged 13 to 37!

My garage turned my car into a dune buggy last night.

Make of that what you will :)

Yes realistically I do worry about my school friends having more successful lives than me

Thanks to everyone who’s contributed to this thread.

i honestly think a lot of it is to do with wanting validation from popular people and being ridiculed for this in the past. Hence - the popular lad apologising to me for being distracted on his phone and me insisting awkwardly that its alright
