To send more documents than asked for...passport related.

My DD is going on a school trip abroad later this year so we are applying for her first passport. Neither me or her dad have passports so documentation is more complicated.(Both UK born)

I filled in the application online, got her photo validated, sent off the documents they requested (DD birth certificate and one parent birth certificate)

Now...I had a name change as a child, so sent her dad's birth certificate as it's less complicated than all my documents.

Had an email today asking to send more documents as the name on her birth certificate under mother is different to the one I applied in . It asks for name used now which is my married name, we were not married when she was born. So they have asked for the marriage certificate.

Marriage certificate states under name my " maiden/childhood name (formally "birth name") ". (E.g Louise smith (was Jones),)

So question is.... Do I just send the marriage certificate as they asked, or do I preempt that they will then ask for proof of prior name change, and send my birth certificate and name change documents at the same time.

YABU...Just send what they ask for
YANBU...they will want the extra documents so send them too

I would just send what they ask for. If they need more, they’ll come back to you. But I assume school trip is not til May/June, so you have plenty of time. I wouldn’t risk confusing them or losing your documents. Even when I had to send in extra documents for DD’s passport renewal last year, still only took 2 weeks.

Send everything you have to clearly trace history of name change. You don't want to be constantly sending information in bits and delaying the process. You know they will question why name is different so no point waiting. Unless you have something to hide, of course.

I would send supporting documentation which shows the history of your name changes. If you don't they will only come back to ask for it - not something you can ignore. If you don't send it you also run the risk the application gets put back on the "items missing" pile and gets overlooked and delayed
