I just want to speak to DPD

I am at home awaiting a parcel. Email says parcel will arrive between 12 and 1. Great! Then i get an email to say sorry that they missed me and they will return on Monday. A van hasn't even been down my street let alone have i had any attempt at all to deliver.

My only options on email are 'track parcel' or 'set safe space'. There is a phone number...that literally just reads my email out loud. Sorry we missed you we'll be back on Monday. Click. The 'chat to us' function takes me to...you guessed it, my email info. I google number to call. I call the number. It does not exist. I try in desperation to download the app as I am advised by google that i can live chat to someone. I make an account. I log in. Oop. There are no details saved for me, no evidence of any of my parcels and besides, no option to soeak to anyone. Is is unreasonable for me to at least try to get my parcel? Or want to speak to...ANYONE? I'm sure being on the phone to this type of call is annoying and thankless but surely they track drivers and can see nobody has been on my street at all?! I judt want my parcel!!

Perhaps they aren't doing deliveries because of the red weather warning

toomuchfaff · 24/01/2025 13:00

Far more likely the deliveries aborted due to multiple weather warnings, fallen trees etc

Ensconcedinvelvet · 24/01/2025 13:07

It's not that bad where I am. 26mph winds with 40mph gusts. Regardless of weather...why is there absolutely no way to speak to anyone?

I had a similar issue with ervi , literally impossible to speak to an actual human. Eventually when I did get someone they told me to contact the sender. If I were you I would wait and see what happens Monday

YouOKHun · 24/01/2025 13:16

I'm sure it's the weather today that has caused problems.

Before Twitter went to the dogs it used to be the way to get the attention of a courier, so much so that many cancelled their Twitter profiles as it was showing them up too much. Now there isn't much recourse. Ultimately the courier companies do not care about you and me as their contract is with the retailer/sender. The only way to chase is to follow up with the sender. DPD's deliveries to me improved (somewhat) when I made sure I gave good info about location such as what3words ref and where to leave packages. Your package probably hasn't even left the depot and you've had an automated standard message. It is very frustrating.

KarmenPQZ · 24/01/2025 14:23

Yup i had similar fun trying to get through to DPD. One of their vans smashed into my front wall and just drove off. Because I didn’t have any tracking info I just couldn’t get through to speak to anyone 🤬

MissyB1 · 24/01/2025 14:24

Oh good luck, dh has been trying to speak to Parcel force for weeks!

Ensconcedinvelvet · 24/01/2025 14:29

@KarmenPQZ ah see now yours was much more important than mine!!! Did you resolve it in the end?

I read DPD as Dear Parcel Delivery! Hardly that but it’ll the storm causing the delay. They send meaningless texts but they will probably deliver soon.

Suzuki76 · 24/01/2025 14:33

I had this last week, where a driver claimed to have tried one day then took a photo of my parcel outside a totally different door another day. Unfortunately courier customer services don't have the logistical setup to speak to drivers and give them instructions to go back/go to the right house for example. It's all automated. You normally just have to wait for them to come back!

I normally complain to the seller/company as they made the contract with DPD or Evri.

Hedonism · 24/01/2025 14:34

Noooooo! I'm just coming to the reluctant conclusion that DPD have lost a parcel that I sent last week. I don't want to have to try and contact them 😭

Msmoonpie · 24/01/2025 14:35

I absolutely loathe companies that do everything possible to avoid speaking to their customers.

I try to avoid them if I can.

ShaunaSadeki · 24/01/2025 14:38

I had the same thing recently, they are twats for saying they have tried to deliver, I offered to send my ring doorbell footage

This is the phone number: 0121 275 0500

Ensconcedinvelvet · 24/01/2025 14:40

@ShaunaSadeki i'm afraid that is the phone number that just reads my tracking info out. The 0850 number is the one that doesn't exist (the number you have dialled has not been recognised). Thanks though!

Oh sorry! I went though my call list from that day, I definitely managed to speak to someone on that number, but not sure what combination of buttons I had to press

Ensconcedinvelvet · 24/01/2025 14:51

@ShaunaSadeki that is so strange as there is literally no option for me to press and buttons other than entering my parcel number. Either i don't enter my parcel number and it disconnects me or i do and it tells me they're sorry they missed me and they'll be back on Monday and then disconnects me?? I'm gonna try again!! See if there is a secret third option?!

OP posts:
Ensconcedinvelvet · 24/01/2025 14:55

@Suzuki76 how frustrating for you! I have emailed the company so hopefully will get a response!

OP posts:
ShaunaSadeki · 24/01/2025 14:59

Oh, I have just thought, my parcel came under the “medical division” or something, so maybe the tracking number triggered some options, sorry to give you false hope

KarmenPQZ · 25/01/2025 08:44

Ensconcedinvelvet · 24/01/2025 14:29

@KarmenPQZ ah see now yours was much more important than mine!!! Did you resolve it in the end?

No sadly I didn’t and I just gave up and fixed the damage. It wasn’t as bad as I initially thought. Very frustrating tho that I had to clear it up

Chuchoter · 25/01/2025 09:05

They will deliver on Monday.

They used the option to say they attempted delivery but probably because of a problem with van or the weather.

It's inconvenient for you but pointless to chase it up when they have said they will
Deliver on Monday.

Chuchoter · 25/01/2025 09:34

This may give you more info than the DPD tracking
