Misogyny isn't taken seriously

Watching Question.Time tonight, Matthew Parris commenting blithely that Axel Rudakubana had no ideology and was just a psychopath enraged me. It's no accident that he killed little girls, is it?

In the same week that Kyle Clifford pleaded guilty to his appalling crimes, isn't it time that we recognised misogyny as the urgent threat to public safety that it clearly is?

I totally agree with you. If there was another "class" that were being murdered so frequently there would be legislation all over it. But, I guess the people that make these decisions are probably men so...

Putting this on my Threads I'm On, just so I don't miss all the 'but misandry' and 'women are mass murderers too' posts. The writers seem so delightfully unaware that they're proving the point every time.

YANBU, obvs, OP.

I totally agree. How about men start listening to women. Especially women, who’ve been around the block. Post menopausal women, who no longer want to take shit and are now seeing our daughters and their friends going through what we did. And lamenting that we have to put them through the #bekind mill, don’t antagonise males, we don’t know what they are capable of that we were subjected to.

MJconfessions · 24/01/2025 05:25

I don’t know what to say really, I think men tend to get a free pass in a wide spectrum of scenarios to the detriment of women. But possibly the worst thing is, on any given occasion you will get women defending these men too

There is another 'class' that is murdered more frequently - men.

That didn't take long. Congrats.

Predominantly by men. So it's still overwhelmingly a male violence problem anyway.

That doesn't stop their misogyny being a specific problem.
Or women's internalised misogyny because it's such a normal part of culture.
