To Ask If You’d Find This Unbearably Cringe?

In the local newspaper birthday greetings section - there was a birthday greeting to a family member- can’t fit the life of me remember which birthday it was - that said

“Happy Birthday to name of family member from ‘the bottom of our hearts and the hearts of our bottoms’ …

Just for accuracy- this was in the summer of 2008 - so I dunno - maybe in the past 16 and a half years we’ve become less cringe ?? 🤣 Maybe this kind of notification wouldn’t happen anymore ?

I suggested to my Dad if he’d like this greeting in the local newspaper- to which he said no - he’d prefer

“You’re the hub of my life hun!”

I then proceeded to take this idea further and said that a photograph of his face could also be placed as if it were the hub of a wheel - along with this caption!!

So - would you find this kind of thing ‘peak cringe?’ or would you just go along with it?

If it was printed exactly in the way you’ve quoted it’s probably a family in-joke. I am easily irritated but this wouldn’t register on my cringe-o-meter at all.

Ah that’s reassuring! Tbh it’s the most bizzare birthday greeting I’ve read in a local newspaper - they’re all pretty straightforward most of the time
