Ex teacher .
Work in the council in Probation services. Lots of contact with social workers who seem very busy !

There is little chance of progression and pay is stuck pretty much in this role.
I need to be able to earn £40k plus to support my family. I am struggling on £28k

I have been accepted onto a social work paid Training scheme.

Am I mad to consider the path of social work . I have two primary school aged children and a husband who has a flexible role so can do pick ups.

My Current role is alot of reports and work with people who are in the criminal Justice system.

I'm wondering what the reasons for you leaving teaching were. I bet you realise why I'm asking!

Not mad at all as it's a paid scheme. If you don't like it you won't have lots of fees to repay. You will regret not giving it a go.

There are loads of social work roles that pay that much and more. I would just keep an open mind about career path. Being a SW doesn't necessarily mean you have to go into children's safeguarding.

Same reasons SW leave?

hahaah yes!
That is why I am sceptical.

Lesson planning and marking all night. Constant observations and micromanagement. I loved the children but our academy was failing and so we were under constant monitoring. After 9 years I had enough.
