Morning sickness stopped overnight…I’m terrified!

MummyToBe89 · 21/01/2025 20:26

Not really and AIBU, mostly posting for traffic.

I’m currently 8 weeks pregnant after 2 years of IVF.

I had a miscarriage in September, which I knew I’d had before even having my scan as my morning sickness had completely vanished and I just didn’t “feel” pregnant anymore.

This pregnancy I’ve been ill nearly every day, but today I feel nothing. I’m absolutely terrified! I’ve emailed my clinic and hope to get a reply tomorrow morning.

Has anyone had the same, where their morning sickness stopped overnight and their baby arrived happy and healthy?!

I’ve had it both ways. One where it stopped and I’d had a mmc and one where it stopped and all was ok and he’s nearly 2 years old now.

Theres just no way to know without a scan really.

Manifesting that you start feeling terrible again soon.

Thank you, I’ve never been so desperate to be throwing up! Just hoping and praying I can get in for a scan tomorrow, or I start feeling ill!

Only voted yanbu because your concerns are valid if you feel that way not in a scare tactic way.

i was sick allllllll through pregnancy, projectile vomiting throughout, needing to leave a meal throw up come back etc. BUT ive had friends who have said how reaching a certain point and they felt re-energised, meanwhile im just sat with a sick bowl. Currently have a work friend, terrible morning sickness and just so ill the first 8-10 weeks signed off work and all that but she stopped being unwell suddenly and said how she had a dream of a pregnancy and was glowing and spoke about how it felt like night and day suddenly in terms of how she felt.

100% understand your fears given what youve been through but speaking to a dr is the best shout and youve already enquired with the clinic but there are positive examples out there. Hope everything works out well for you💖

PriOn1 · 21/01/2025 20:38

Mine came and went and I’d have days where I felt fine in between days where I felt awful.

Good luck, OP. Hope it works out okay for you.

Upsycrazy · 21/01/2025 20:42

Yes. In fact I wrote about it on here. Baby now 3 months old.
I also found that my sickness sometimes got sort of overshadowed by anxiety. Like I was so anxious that there wasn't room for my body to feel any other way.

Incognitoburrito88 · 21/01/2025 20:42

Sorry you’re going through this OP. I’ve had 7 miscarriages (4 live births too) and my morning sickness continued for a couple of weeks after each one. With my successful pregnancies the level of sickness was no different to my unsuccessful ones. I really don’t think the presence or otherwise of morning sickness is an indicator of whether the pregnancy is still viable. I think try and get a scan tomorrow - either through the ivf clinic or a private one if they won’t do it. Really hope it’s good news 🤗

RobinHeartella · 21/01/2025 20:43

8 weeks is when morning sickness can change, because it's when the placenta starts working. In both my pregnancies, my morning sickness suddenly stopped for 2-3 days then came back (worse!) and with a different flavour iyswim.

Basically, don't panic. It might be back in a day or two.

AmIwrong1234 · 21/01/2025 20:51

My morning sickness stopped at 8 weeks (healthy 18 month old now), I was also terrified after two miscarriages. Fingers crossed everything is okay for you. I think the placenta takes over about now and that’s why morning sickness can disappear.

Ilovecakey · 21/01/2025 21:04

How far gone are you? As for a lot of people it stops at around 12 weeks. I have had a lot of miscarriages but most was before 12 weeks and I had bleeding. But one where I was sick quite a bit I lost the baby at 17 weeks and had no idea till I had the scan and there was no heartbeat as I'd had no bleeding and still been sick. So being sick doesn't always mean everything is okay. So try not to stress and just feel happy you are not being sick anymore

onetrickrockingpony · 21/01/2025 21:11

Agree with PP - my morning sickness became less consistently awful at around 8 weeks, with panicky good days and reassuring bad days. I think it may also have helped that by 8 weeks I had adjusted my diet to better control the waves of nausea. Also I found it was worse when I hadn’t been sleeping well.
anyway, see how you feel in the morning. Xxx

menopausalmare · 21/01/2025 21:12

My morning sickness went away around the 7-8 week mark and I was convinced the pregnancy had ended. I persuaded the hospital to give me an early scan and the baby was fine. A week later the sickness came back with a vengeance which was great but grim.

Rainbow450 · 21/01/2025 21:14

I wasn't actually sick but felt it for ages then it just randomly went. Also had a miscarriage and I think you would know as the bleeding would start.

Fellow IVF person so I know how precious this is so I'd call your clinic tomorrow and see if they could scan you to put your mind as rest.

hazelnutvanillalatte · 21/01/2025 21:42

My symptoms came and went with all mine. Scared me to death. Bleeding and disappearing symptoms with one - he's now 7 x

Pumpkinspice13 · 21/01/2025 22:04

Sending you a hand hold. I hope you get some reassurance soon! Wishing you lots of luck.

MummyToBe89 · 22/01/2025 07:33

Thank you so much everyone, and I’m so sorry to hear so many of you have also suffered a loss.

I’m hoping to hear back from my clinic first thing or have some sickness tonight reassure me!

I also had it both ways. In one pregnancy the sickness stopped and I miscarried. So I was terrified when that happened in the next pregnancy, but that time it was fine. Good luck, it's a stressful time.

BlondeMamaToBe · 22/01/2025 07:40

Calm down. You’re not going to feel unwell 24/7

InJadeHedgehog · 22/01/2025 07:40

My sickness stopped over night in both my pregnancies.
One at 16 weeks or so and one at about 9 weeks admittedly I was worried about the second one but it turned out well.

Westfacing · 22/01/2025 07:48

I had the most dreadful sickness, including vomiting, at all hours of the day/night for about the first 12 weeks or so with both my pregnancies - both times it just stopped overnight.

My sons are now in their 40s.

socks1107 · 22/01/2025 07:50

Mine stopped abruptly at 9 weeks, she's now 18. I know it's really difficult I hope your clinic call soon

pastelpink0 · 22/01/2025 07:57

I had a lot of symptoms from 1-2 weeks which then completely disappeared overnight when I was around 6 weeks. I went to the EPU as I was also having some spotting and told them that I lost all my symptoms but they said it was just hormones! My symptoms did come back again, now I'm 14 weeks and they've disappeared overnight again.

Try not to worry, everyone's bodies are different and work in different ways but I hope you get an early scan to put your mind at ease x

MummyToBe89 · 22/01/2025 11:54

Thank you all (apart from one!) for your lovely caring comments. I’ve had my scan and all is well thank God! They look like a real baby with little arms and legs and everything, it was amazing to see! Nice strong heartbeat too :)

My clinic have been amazing and have offered me another scan in 2 weeks before I get sent off to maternity at the hospital.

Thank you again for all your well wishes and hopefully this thread can help calm another Mum to Be’s nerves in the future! X

That's brilliant news. I'm so pleased for you

Straightomyhead · 22/01/2025 13:03

This is great news. I had no sickness until week 8 with my second and it seems to have hit my hard at 8 weeks. I was super anxious the whole time. I can totally understand your feelings.

As you mentioned ignore the commenter with no advice. It's not helpful and doesn't understand your situation.

socks1107 · 22/01/2025 15:05

That's a lovely update! X
