Coil has moved… TMI but don’t know what to do!

I’ve had the coil for 4 years no problem, for the last 2 months my periods have been super heavy which isn’t like me at all. After some intimacy with DH last night he said there was a “hair” stuck inside me, when I pulled it I felt resistance and it gave me cramps. Thinking it was the coil, I tried to feel for it and can feel the plastic (?) of it near the top of my vagina canal. This is TMI but there is a foul smell down there as well, like rotting food smell ☹️

im not sure what to do? I’m in work all day today and can’t get out and then I have a holiday in the morning - flight at 4am.

does it need to come out? Is it an emegency? I’ve heard about them moving before but it’s the smell that’s freaking me out - could it be an infection?

Bacterial vaginosis?
get checked out though asap…sounds like something is t right and there’s only one way to find out

I would be worried about the smell, that can definitely be a sign of infection.

I would call 111 and see if they can get you an out or hours appointment this evening to have it removed. It only takes two minutes.

Otherwise, see if your GP can squeeze you in. You may just have to leave work early - it’s a medical necessity, you can’t be forced to stay in the circumstances.

Do you still use tampons with the coil? Some might have got stuck on the wire ( hence the smell).. if not I'd still go to emergency family planning this evening and get it checked. Sounds like some kind of infection going on.
If you're flying abroad you might not have adequate insurance if something happens.
Good luck

Find your local sexual health clinic - I always manage to get seen the same there at one

A walk in centre ?

Try to get to a Brook, sexual health clinic or GP today. You also need the morning after pill if applicable to the nature of your intimacy

BTW, if you pull on your coil strings, it'll come out extremely easily most of the time. Yours appears to have come out halfway and you don't want it like that. You need it removed / replaced.

This happened to me. Coil got wedged in my cervix , I needed up with labour like cramps as my body tried to expel it! I actually had a large fibroid which I think was responsible. Don’t wait get it removed asap today and remember to bring an alternative contraceptive on holiday !
