TTC and cousin's birthdays

I've recently had the MMR vaccines (again, had them before but didn't have immunity) and now finally in the clear to start TTC. I know it's super unlikely but if we did conceive this month, my due date would be a day before my nephew's birthday & only a couple of weeks after my niece. AIBU to TTC this month or would we better waiting a cycle?

Obviously I know the odds of conceiving on the first month are slim and the odds of them coming on their due date are also slim but just wondering if others have taken into account cousins birthdays when it comes to TTC and potential due dates. I'm probably totally overthinking this as I think well this cycle would result in being close to niece and nephew's birthday, next 3 months are close to Christmas and post Christmas etc and there's just really no ideal time is there so maybe we should just go for it & see what happens.

Don't even think about cousins birthday it is irrelevant. Even if you get pregnant you could give birth early or late. Then decide on family occasions at the time.

rainbowstardrops · 20/01/2025 15:08

You're way overthinking this! Just go for it

Springflowersmakeforbetterhours · 20/01/2025 15:09

Can this be real? Honestly? Ttc and hope for a positive.. You won't give your dn a second thought!!

Sorry, chronic overthinker over here. I just know birthdays are a massive deal for our family. I feel like if we'd been actively trying beforehand and then were still trying this month that's one thing but choosing to start this month feels different.

Yes. You are overthinking it. Bloody hell.

canyouletthedogoutplease · 20/01/2025 15:17

We have loads of bithdays on top of each other in my family, it's pretty normal no? What happens if you have two cousins with birthdays two weeks apart? Is there a reason this is a bad thing?

Sangeetafangeeta · 20/01/2025 15:24

Eh?

MaltipooMama · 20/01/2025 15:24

Oh god do not even let this cross your mind! Crack on and if you conceive well it's nothing but positive news is it, who cares if their cousins have similar birthdays, lovely big birthday family gatherings when they're older! 😀

mindutopia · 20/01/2025 15:28

Just crack on. My dc’s birthdays are a week apart. Honestly, it’s not a big deal. If anything, gets it all out the way for the rest of the year while everyone is still in birthday mode.

GloriousBlue · 20/01/2025 15:32

Really struggling to see why this would ever be a potential issue.

Do you subconsciously not want a baby yet, and this is your way of stalling?

Pottedpalm · 20/01/2025 15:34

Total non problem! Don’t give it another tjought.

Feelinadequate23 · 20/01/2025 15:40

We have 6 family birthdays in June. It's never been an issue!

StampOnTheGround · 20/01/2025 15:40

People don't take it into account when it could coincide with their own birthday or siblings birthdays, never mind a cousin. Don't even think about it for a second, it's such a none issue!

My second is due a few days before my firsts 3rd birthday!

Pinkelephant66 · 20/01/2025 15:41

Que?

keepgoingbackagain · 20/01/2025 15:41

Don’t even think about birthdays. You have no idea how long it will take the conceive and there’s no point delaying it over something as minor as this. Half of my family are born in August and the other half are born in October, lots share birthday’s. It’s not a problem!.

CurbsideProphet · 20/01/2025 15:45

Never heard of anyone being concerned about this before. It really doesn't matter if birthdays are the same day / same week / same month.

Blueberry911 · 20/01/2025 15:48

I wouldnt delay a potentially difficult process to conceive a child, because my future child might share a birthday month/week/day with a family member, or may be born late or early and then share a birthday... 🤨

I really don't want to sound mean, but you do know a baby isn't born when you choose, don't you?

Polkadotbabushka · 20/01/2025 15:48

Not sure why the dates of other kids birthdays in the family matter? My son has the same birthday as his cousin and his two other cousins also share a birthday!
It isn’t important! Do what’s right for you!

StarStay · 20/01/2025 15:49

If you think hard enough there's probably a reason for every month to wait. If you're ready to TTC now then just go for it! There's only so much you can plan something like this.

MummytoE · 20/01/2025 15:49

You are overthinking this dramatically

Marylou2 · 20/01/2025 15:52

Oh bless you. You're over thinking probably due to anxiety. Take a deep breath and let all this go. Fingers crossed for you . No birthday is a bad birthday when you're TTC.

welshpolarbear · 20/01/2025 15:56

One day you'll realise that this was a totally random thing to worry about. Anything could happen.

Relax 💐

SausageRoll2020 · 20/01/2025 15:56

You're either massively overthinking this or actually you don't feel ready to try for a baby yet and are looking for a reason not to.
If you don't feel ready or don't want to that's totally fine and your decision.

I can't imagine anyone being concerned that a potential child's birthday might be close to their cousins 🤷🏻‍♀️

Allswellthatendswelll · 20/01/2025 15:57

Omg I think it is kind of ott when people try and avoid Christmas or the end of the school year. Honestly just let it happen when it happens (hopefully quickly for you)!

rainbowstardrops · 20/01/2025 16:02

Like I said earlier, you're way overthinking this. Also forgot to say that my DCs have birthdays a few days apart, I share a birthday with my cousin (she's older) and another cousin shared a birthday with our grandad. It really isn't an issue!
