I received a weird follow tonight on Instagram from an account that had a picture of a tree as its profile picture, the account was new and had 0 followers and the only person they was following was ME.

i checked my message requests and there was a message from this account saying they love my profile and I’m a great looking woman. I’m worried this could be someone from my area stalking me, I don’t know?

am I over worrying?

It sounds more like a romance scammer, sending the same message to hundreds of women and seeing who bites. Just block the account.

It's just one is those weirdos who try to get you to interact with them to scam you. I used to get them all the time, until I made my profile private. Now I have to approve people to follow me.

Why would they only follow me?

I think they just try to see who they can get to take the bait.

They probably have multiple accounts or other people didn't accept the follow

I had this, I played along as I was bored. He said he was from America, had photos etc. I tricked him and he confessed he was a scammer from Nigeria. I think he ended up thinking I was also a scammer pretending to be an English woman and he started talking to me in Nigerian and laughing we was both scammers. It's very common OP

They’ve probably only just set up the account, just ignore/delete, I used to get all sorts of weirdos following me on Instagram so I changed my settings and have to approve anyone now, they’re just scammers.
