To just want my prize

Crocsforlife · 19/01/2025 11:27

My sons club runs a monthly lottery type thing paid by dd. There are a couple of prizes each month a jackpot of 400 and for runner up a voucher of some sort.
I got the runner up prize 2 weeks ago and despite trying have not been able to collect. Either reception isn't manned or no one knows where or what the voucher is. Emailed and got a response saying they will look into it and let me know when it's available nothing since and reception is only manned at various times. Never when my child is there though, I don't drive and this club is out the way.
I'm just going to have to cut my losses aren't I? Annoyed though I pay £10 per month for this do help the clubs funds, my in-laws and mum also take part. It feels as if they make it difficult enough folk won't collect their prize so they can just put it back into the club.

Can you ring them and speak to the person in charge of prizes?

Crocsforlife · 19/01/2025 11:33

It just rings out. It is only manned at limited times generally when I'm at work and can't call.

If you've only sent one email enquiring about it, follow it up. Say you're looking to collect your voucher when kid is doing his next activity on X day/time. If there was usually an issue with getting the runner-up prize, you'd have heard about it by now.

devastatedagain · 19/01/2025 11:35

I'd shout out on local social media about it. Saying "has anyone ever been scammed by ......... because they won't hand over my prize."

Brefugee · 19/01/2025 11:36

Stop the DD. When they contact you tell them you'll start again when you get your voucher, otherwise you are worried it looks as though they are defrauding the people who are playing the game.

Machachacha · 19/01/2025 11:37

Keep emailing, every single day.
It is fraud if they are running a raffle but don't issue the prizes.

I don't want to go down the social media route, ds loves the club and it would most likely make it difficult for him to continue (though much easier on my purse)

I'd guess it's more ineptitude than dishonesty.

Send an email just saying to leave the gift card at the centre with staff/volunteer and you'll pick up when you're there next.

DanceTheDevilBackIntoHisHole · 19/01/2025 11:47

Can't you talk to the people running the session your DC goes to? Obviously they won't have it or handle it but they'll probably have other contacts at the club or a way of contacting the people responsible.

I never see them, dh normally does the drops as he drives but doesn't get out the car and stays in car for pickup. Doors are locked and they open them once the session starts. I went the other day and went in but no one was about. Ds asked the coaches but they didn't know anything about it and said just to email in.

I've just sent another email asking if they can just pass to ds to save me chasing up again.

Work out how much you have spent on the draw... That will see you determined to get that prize imo!!
Email daily...

Soonenough · 19/01/2025 12:24

If it is a voucher can't they just give it to your son ?

CandyCane457 · 19/01/2025 13:00

I wouldn’t let this drop! I would keep emailing persistently. Ask your husband if, instead of just letting your son get out the car and go in on his own, if your husband could get out at drop off or pick up and see if he can find someone. Or go with him and do it yourself. I’d be annoyed about this on purely on principle wouldn’t let it drop.

Maboscelar · 19/01/2025 13:18

If they won't give it to you then I would stop buying the tickets and I would tell them why.

Agapornis · 19/01/2025 13:37

I'd cancel the direct debit - and keep following it up.

SkaneTos · 19/01/2025 22:55

I agree with many of the previous posters here - keep contacting the club to ask about your prize.

No matter how much you love the club -
If someone has a lottery, and you win, and they don't give you the prize, then it's fraudulent, I think.

I hope it will all work out.

JC03745 · 19/01/2025 23:00

At least you have emailed them again.

Can't you call them in your lunch break- if that is the time they are open? Or ask your DH to call them?

DangerPigeon · 19/01/2025 23:04

If it's a paper voucher can they post it? And email when it's on its way

Crocsforlife · 22/01/2025 06:22

I have eventually got the voucher, took a while and was a pita that I could have done without but all good now. Thanks everyone.

"I don't drive and this club is out my way" didn't reveal that your husband drives there for each pick up?! Tell your husband to get out the car and go in and ask seems a straightforward solution?!

SkaneTos · 22/01/2025 09:33

@Crocsforlife
Thank you for the update, OP! That's good news.

The reception wasn't manned at the times my child was there as I said in my original post.
