With a stop on the way there or the way back?

Driving to a ski resort for a mini break in March, it’s just under six hours, not long for some, but long for us after having Dd, 6

We can either drive there and stop halfway ish for a quick lunch and a walk around and then continue on and stay at the resort for two nights, stopping halfway in a lovely city on the way back for an overnight stay.

Or

Stop halfway on the way to the ski resort, at the city and stay overnight, then drive to the resort the next day, stay two nights, then straight drive home or with simple stop somewhere

For info-The city is Seville, the ski resort is Sierra nevada.
I’m thinking in terms of my 6 year old, who is lovely, but can be tricky with behaviour etc

What is the easiest option?

I'd do the first, cos you'll be more tired on way back

AndThereSheGoes · 18/01/2025 16:49

I'd stop on the way back. For the same reason as above! You can have a decent rest after skiing and do as much or little in Seville as you want.

Do you not think we’d be too tired on the way back to walk around the city etc?

The motorways in Spain are generally excellent. A six hour drive in the U.K. would be a nightmare but it's so much more do-able in Spain. There's a lot less traffic. Central Seville however is a nightmare to drive in. 😬

Could you just stop and have a bite to eat somewhere and let the six year old let off some steam. And leave in the evening on way back so child sleeps ?

When mine were smal, the same age we used to ski in Scotland, a 7 hour drive and we drove straight through stopping for breakfast (set off early) then first fuel at Perth. Never occurred to me to do an overnight stop.

I know 😬 have done it lots pre Dd, with her 🙈 but she’s never been, we’ve not been for years and it seems a good opportunity whilst over that way 🤔 or maybe not

I thought could be a good opportunity to fit in Seville whilst we’re there, but perhaps that’s too much
