I believe that the temperature has to be, or be forecast to be, below zero for seven days in a row:

But dont shout about it, or Rachel will cut it!

From the gov website

You’ll get a payment if the average temperature in your area is recorded as, or forecast to be, zero degrees celsius or below over 7 consecutive days.
You’ll get £25 for each 7 day period of very cold weather between 1 November 2024 and 31 March 2025.

i have read that but I don’t understand. Starting from when? Which area?

so for example how many ‘days in a row’ are we in now?

I can Google it myself, but that’s not what I’m asking.

It’s just seven consecutive days below zero. It’ll depend on your area as to whether you. The link includes a postcode checker, so I’d start there!

Thank you I checked it but for some reason won’t load grrrr
thanks guys I just want to know whether I can put the heating on. :(
hopefully we get it !

It says on the link that it's within 14 working days of the cold periods.

Coldaf · 11/01/2025 13:30

But it doesn’t say anything like a checker as in ‘you are day 3 of cold spell’ etc
woukd be nice to be able to figure it out but they’ve made it quite hard to

Put your postcode in here and check.
I received my payment on Friday for this week's cold weather.

AFAIK they go by the Met Office readings, so you have to bookmark the met office in your town and record the temp every day.

Cancel that - I just saw Punkpoprocknot's post!
