to want to leave work on time?

I work in retail and work till 3pm, all of my colleagues work till store close. Every shift after lunch my colleagues go off to do other jobs rather than help cover the till even though 2-3pm is our busiest time.
So at 3pm I'm stuck on the till with a huge queue and my shift has ended. Im starting to get annoyed as I don't get paid after 3pm, my train leaves at 3.30pm so I only have 30 minutes and I like to do a bit of food shopping before going home.
I very rarely work on the till but always get stuck on it just before I am due to go home as I cover 1-2 whilst they have lunch and then can't get off as they don't come back to cover.
Does this happen in other work places?

At 3 minutes to three, close your till and go and get a colleague.

If you are on minimum wage your employer is breaking the law by forcing you to work later than your clocking off time.

Tell your manager this is a thing and ask if s/he can remind the others that one of them needs to come back to take over the till at 3, as you'll be leaving.

What has your manager said when you’ve raised this with them?

At 2.55 ring the bell for assistance, when someone appears say that your shift has finished and they need to take over? I used to work in retail and being on the till was my (and everyone else's) favourite part, nobody liked cleaning, re-arranging shelves and tidying up.

Remind your supervisor/floor manager at the start of your shift that you finish at 3 pm. They should be taking this into account when they are allocating everyone's break times.
