Bicarbonate of soda and pee smell?

PrettyPleaseXo · 07/01/2025 05:40

I woke up to the delightful experience of being covered in wee after my daughter wet herself on the sofa (I sleep on the sofa and she joined me in the night).
I have used a mix of white vinegar and water to scrub it and it's now got a layer of bicarbonate of soda that I've worked into it. How long do I leave this on before hoovering it up to get the smell gone? I leave for work at 8am

Thank you!

There is an article here on getting pet urine out of a carpet - I would assume it’s much the same for a sofa. https://crystalcarpetcleaners.co.uk/how-to-get-rid-of-urine-from-carpet/
The bit that is relevant for you is this - Baking Soda Treatment

  1. If you opt for a natural cleaning solution, consider using baking soda. Spread it on the stain and leave it overnight, then vacuum the carpet in the morning to remove any residue.
  2. Vinegar Solution Preparation
  3. Alternatively, make a vinegar-based cleaning solution. Combine equal amounts of white vinegar and water in a spray bottle, and add 1 tablespoon of baking soda for extra power. Shake well to mix the ingredients.
  4. Vinegar Solution Application
  5. Spray the vinegar solution on the affected area and leave it for a few minutes.
  6. Residue Cleanup
  7. Wipe up the remains using a damp towel.
