Just what the title says really? what are you looking forward to this year? Right now (especially on this freezing cold day) I’m mostly looking forward to spring :)

Last night I convinced dh to book a holiday for later in the year. Usually we book last minute so it's nice to have something to look forward to.
Also looking forward to the lighter days and spring flowers, hoping the bulbs I planted are a success.

Having a less shit year than last year.

I'm stopping pleasing others, doing shit that makes me unhappy, and bending over backwards for selfish people in my life.

I had to choose a word for the year in yoga on NYD, and I chose the word ME.

I'm making myself happy this year and putting myself first, because nobody is going to do it for me.

This includes giving DH a weekly list of shit jobs to do that I've been doing on autopilot for years and am no longer doing it. This includes the majority of his laundry, clearing up the teenage hovel that is his study, and all wifework for his side of the family.

ME ME ME.

DelilahBucket · 03/01/2025 18:27

I'm opening a shop so very excited about that 😀

BrokenFamilyTies · 03/01/2025 18:32

Arrival of spring.
My March holiday.
Building my own business.
Giving less of a fuck about toxic boss.

DilemmaDelilah · 03/01/2025 18:45

Finishing my cancer meds in August. The side-effects make me feel really ill and I'm really looking forward to feeling normal again.
Retiring in July. I will be poor (don't get my state pension until 2027) but it will be worth it to spend some quality time with my husband.

I'm the short term - hopefully being invited to my local daughter's house for a meal 😁

ZekeZeke · 03/01/2025 18:48

I've just booked a trip to NY for the four of us., DH, myself and two adult DS. I imagine it's our last family holiday together
Sons are 23 and 22.
I'm excited.
DH and I are booked on an Alaskan Cruise in 2026

Didimum · 03/01/2025 18:51

Going to a concert in Feb. Going on holiday just DH and I in April, going to book in our bathroom refurb at some point in year. New lower mortgage deal starts in May. Should be better off each month by a substantial amount due to various factors so looking forward to getting the house in better order.

whiteroseredrose · 03/01/2025 18:55

Finally going to Vietnam with DH - I started planning it a few years ago.

And hopefully we will manage to sell PIL's house in Spain. It has been a nightmare as we have Spanish POA for MIL but BIL in Canada is struggling to sort one out there. And nothing can start until we have that.

My sister is getting married this summer, for the third time. We’ve known her husband-to-be for over 30 yrs. Their back story would be very revealing but it is a happy ending for both of them. Full church wedding so looking forward to buying a fancy outfit and a full on party afterwards.
It’s 20 yrs since her last wedding and the children are all grown up. It will be lovely to see them partying into the night.

Daleksatemyshed · 03/01/2025 19:15

@DilemmaDelilah , I've been where you are and came out the other side, I hope very much that August will see you cancer free.
I'm retired now so I'm looking forward to finally getting the garden lovely

MadameBeauregarde · 03/01/2025 19:20

I’m another one off to NYC. Just me and adult DD. Can’t wait. Am going to get away as much as I can this year.

I quit drinking last year and am looking forward to feeling healthier and happier on an ongoing basis.

Walkies with the dog, always my favourite thing.

toffeeteacake · 03/01/2025 19:28

We’re off on holiday soon and we also have tickets for lots of good stuff including Greg Davies and the Levellers Collective.

MerryChristmasYaFilthyAnimals · 03/01/2025 19:31

Booked universal Florida for fright nights in Oct and then flying to NY me and DD11.
I love planning, so have a planner on the way and planning my bathroom refurb.
soffits and fascia's are desperate and being done.
just booked tickets for Lana del rey for DD birthday
And lots of lazy days and chilling too.

LittleLlama · 03/01/2025 19:35

My brother is getting married this year, it is going to be a very small informal and relaxed wedding with just close family and friends. As the wedding is some distance we are going to turn it into a holiday and have booked a few days in Edinburgh.

I have been trying to lose weight, started in June and am over half way to my goal weight. I feel so much healthier and fitter and I feel more comfortable and confident. So I am looking forward to getting to my target and buying some new (secondhand) clothes from eBay/vintage and Charity Shops, etc.

Hoping to buy a secondhand piano this year (you can get them quite cheaply). We have more room (as my eldest son moved out). It will be great to be able to play again and learn new tunes.

So lots to look forward too!

choirmumoftwo · 03/01/2025 19:42

We're going on my bucket list 60th birthday holiday to Falkland Islands, South Georgia and Antarctica next week. Flying to Chile on Friday and I'm beyond excited.
Our son is marrying his lovely fiancée in May so really looking forward to that.
Both DC have just bought houses so it's a joy seeing them settle in.
Annual trip to our timeshare on Tresco in September which is always such a treat.

RM2013 · 03/01/2025 19:44

We are going away to Cornwall at Easter. We were supposed to go last year but DH had an op and wouldn’t have recovered in time so we were able to push it back to this year. DC are 17 and 20 now so not sure how much longer they will want to holiday with us

tillytoodles1 · 03/01/2025 19:44

Being rehoused by the council after putting up with foul abuse from my neighbour, and his poor dog being left in its own, barking and howling constantly

Ti7ch · 03/01/2025 19:45

My first trip outside Europe (America)

EcoCustard · 03/01/2025 19:48

I’m looking forward to going to Holland for a lovely break with my family. Looking forward to walks & hikes with my spaniel & walking some/all of the Norfolk coastal path with him & eldest Dc. I’m also looking forward to completing my degree, finally! Light evenings for bike rides & park visits, days out with the kids.

fudgesmummy · 03/01/2025 19:48

Our 3rd grandchild is due in early March.
Our DS and DD both have one each and both said no more babies.
Our DD and her DH changed their mind! ❤️

notprincehamlet · 03/01/2025 19:56

Buying less stuff (ish) and doing more things. Finishing Invisalign. Getting my new-but-old bikes up and running. A marathon and a sportive. The return of squeezy Marmite.

Kingofthetyrantlizards · 03/01/2025 19:59

The arrival of our second DC in Feb - this will be our last, so I'm simultaneously done with this pregnancy and wanting to meet our baby boy, and not wanting the pregnancy to end knowing it'll be my last.
