Anyone watching the Northern Lights?

I’m in North Yorkshire and they’re out tonight! I couldn’t see them at all, but my 10 year old said they could see red in the sky, pointed my phone and they magically appeared when I took a picture. No idea how they could see them but they obviously could!

Whereabouts in North Yorkshire? I'm in Knaresborough and it's a bit foggy.

The west of Ireland here and my UK-based friend has told me they're visible in Cork and Sligo - so to both the north and south of us - but I've been outside multiple times, in the freezing cold, and there's not a twinkle to be seen. Actually, I lie, there are twinkles - the stars, but northern lights? Nah. Going to have one more look on the way to bed, and then give up.

@Inextremis the stars here are stunning. I couldn’t see the lights at all until I took a picture and looked at it. Usually I can see them through the phone but not this time

I’d love to be there with you. Can’t remember the last time I saw a starry sky.

My dd picked me up in October at 2am. Was a fright as I was asleep and we went out into the dales. This is what we saw.
Brilliant. Another ambition fulfilled.

Too much light pollution around here, sadly. I can see Jupiter and Venus and make out Orion but that's about it.
