My friend sent me these memes. I was completely stunned and I told her I could not relate to these on any level.

I found this disturbing and told her she needs therapy.

This is not normal.... right? Or is this normal?

I can hard relate to these memes and I did have an abusive mother. So I’d say…you’re both right. You can’t relate to the memes as you didn’t have this experience. She can because she did. She probably should get therapy but people tend to shoot the messenger so I’m not sure it’d be great for you to suggest it. Hopefully she’ll develop self awareness and get some help.

The first one not so unusual I'd say...for many of us who were children of the 80s/90s suppressing and controlling rather than expressing emotions such as anger, fear etc was expected by parents.

The second one is just weird and suggests alot of resentment towards a presumably abusive parent....so yes I'd say that indicates she needs therapy
