This isn’t real. It’s a dream I had last night.

I had asked a four year old DNephew and six year old DNiece if they wanted to go to the toy shop. Nephew said yes and niece said no. I came back with a scooter which transformed into a bike for nephew, who excitedly showed it off to his sister and parents. Parents flipped their lids and said it was disgraceful I hadn’t got niece anything. I said she’d been asked and didn’t want to come along. Who’s unreasonable?

It doesn't really matter does it, its not real. If it was real then you had been massively unreasonable.

Why? One child wanted to come to the toy shop.

Hmmm I don't think you bring back something for the niece. Kids have to learn there are often trade offs in life - if they choose not to go on a fun trip to the you shop with an aunt, they loose the opportunity to pick a toy together.

I think the transforming bike sounds a bit amazing and the niece should have got a token something. OK, if you'd got him a hot wheels car or would be different, like just a small memento. But to her NOTHING vw a massive present - your dream self WBVU.

Also (in the dream), did you tell niece that she wouldn't get anything if she didn't come. If you didn't, then it wasn't really fair.

Hmm. Can’t remember if it was made clear to niece. I woke up feeling like I’d been done a real injustice by my sister though 😂

A trip to the toy shop doesn’t necessarily mean a very nice present so the niece wasn’t given the full information to make a properly informed decision.
