Kidamento cameras - has anyone bought one??

Looking for a decent kids camera - esp one with no games! This brand comes up again and again though I can’t find many independent reviews (the ones I do are glowing). I’m strongly considering one for DC7 but I’m put off by them only being available in Canada - taxes aside, is this a really stupid thing to do?!! What if I don’t like it? Or it breaks??? Arghhh. Anyone get one for their DC this Christmas?!!

My son (6) has one and loves it. Only downside so far is typical child impatience at having to wait the few seconds for it to print, and tugging at the paper while it's still going.
Seems pretty resilient and has stood the test of time so far (he got it in October).

There are lots of very similar looking cameras available in the UK for a lot less, how much extra will you pay in taxes? What if it breaks etc?

What appeals esp about that brand?.

the thing is, as far as I can see there ARENT many similar cameras in the U.K. - especially from a point of view of not including a games function, which I really don’t want. Kidamento don’t have games. Also, the quality of the pictures seems to be better than most instant-print (not talking proper Polaroid, those are obviously good - but also very expensive, and the paper is very expensive too).

@Ledwood85 im guessing you had to buy from the Canadian site? What are the pictures like? Things I’ve read online suggest they take better photos in normal/darker light conditions than most kids cameras (which seem to require very bright conditions for reasonable print outs)?

Does it have to be branded as a children's camera? There are lots of instant cameras available in the UK, including used ones if you don't want to spend too much.

There's quite a few options including on Amazon with instant print but opt for a standard digital camera as quality will be better then download to computer

DS got an instant print camera from amazon for christmas, about £30, he's 9 and so I'm surprised how much he loves it. It has a games feature but they're not very appealing so don't get any use.

I bought it in Canada so can't speak to buying in the UK. It's USB charged so no issues with voltage/plug.

Perhaps there's an off-brand version available on Temu or Amazon that would make the shipping thing easier? I think they're $70cad now, so I think it's worth taking the chance. I would check first though what they use for shipping - Canada Post is just coming off a strike and has huge backlogs, DHL is bad for nailing you brokerage fees on your import duties, Fedex or UPS are the better options.

The first few pictures were ok, nothing spectacular - very white light areas, and could be very dark in places. I remember he then changed a setting (there are many!) to greyscale and the pics came out very good.

For the cost/amount of technology in a small package/speed it's very impressive. I remember when I was a kid I had a full-size black&white inkjet printer for my PC that cost a fortune at the time, was slower and quality no better than this!

My children had a kidamento K for Christmas. One of them arrived within three days, the other (a different colour) arrived after about eight days. The postage was reasonable and there were no import fees.

I don't think they came from Canada, they seemed to come from the USA.

I wanted cameras that had no games, it's as simple as that. As much as the Vtech looked cute and is recommended by Mumsnet's sponsored research, their camera has games.

My children love the cameras. They take easy selfies and do have some fun filters and frames.

I wish I had a link to share and earn a pound for a sale but sadly I don't!

We got the bag too, which is really cute, and the scavenger book.

Just to say, I'm not sure why you find they are only available in Canada? https://kidamento.com/en-gb/collections/all
