Help - I think I just aspirated my vomit!

I’m such a mess. 7 months pregnant. Continuous morning sickness so on anti sickness still.

Have had the flu last few weeks and been left with a horrible repetitive cough.

Have just thrown up! Whilst coughing, whilst also throwing up, trying to breathe, and trying not to wet myself at the same time. I’m just a complete mess!!

And I think I inhaled some vomit!

Please tell me I’m not going to get more ill. Am I supposed to do something now? Speak to GP? Get antibiotics? Just wait to see if I get sepsis and die 💀😭

Help anyone!

You'll be fine.

Try not to panic. You eventually cough it back up. Like whrn sick gets stuck you nose and you blow it eventually the next day. I hate being sick so sympathies

I'd see a GP, call tomorrow. You might need antibiotics because of your lingering cough.

You poor thing, that sounds horrible.

You’ll most likely have coughed back out any vomit - our bodies have great reflexes for this sort of thing. But if not you’ve got time to see what develops. Drink some water and try to sleep on your side. Put cushions around your back to stop you from rolling onto your back in case you vomit again.

As far as infection is concerned then watch out for sharp chest pain, excessive coughing, high temp or dizziness/shortness of breath and then consult a dr

You could take a bucket to have on the floor nearby, and a towel for over your pillow in case you drift off then suddenly wake up feeling bad, would that help? Sometimes it’s the thought of feeling like that that is worse than the reality.

Thanks everyone. I’m quite used to the throwing up so don’t worry about me there. It was quite horrible the combination with the coughing though 😵‍💫

Good to hear that hopefully I can just cough out any vomit if I did aspirate.

Think I will send the GP a message tommorow anyway. My chest was clear last week despite the cough but has been a bit more noisy the last few days even prior to this.

Gosh I just want to be well again! Not long to go with the pregnancy 🤰
