Neighbour Noise - Need advice

I live in a semi detached house and we got new neighbours halfway through this year. Previous to this we never heard our old ones apart from when they put a shelf up on their wall which adjoins our kitchen wall and we heard their speaker playing music really loudly. I totally understand buying a semi you're going to heard neighbours sometimes, however these new ones there's almost constant banging or thudding coming through the kitchen and wall halls which adjoins their house. At first I thought it was just them being heavy footed on the stairs but now I'm starting to think with the frequency of it it can't be... It's slowly starting to get to me as it's almost every 5 mins or so. They do have 2 young children though so it could be them on the stairs... Would I be out of order to say anything? I have their mobile number but would be more than happy to knock on the door, which would be best? It's got to the point it's making me on edge and a little anxious 😔 my husband isn't as noise sensitive as I am so doesn't bother him as much. We're hoping to move to a detached house in the next couple of years or so but just want to know if I'd be out of order to say anything. Thanks!

Iv got no advice i just wanted to say I understand what your saying about being on edge it drove me insane the constant slaming doors the constant running up and down stairs like elephants. Like you I expect some noise and hearing the telly or people sneezing or occasionally shouting never bothered me but it honestly felt like they spent their days opening and slaming doors for the sake of it thankfully I got lucky and they moved out my new neighbours are a lot better apart from the performative sex but that's eased of now to.

I feel your pain, my only advice is white noise and ear plugs
