To think this woman was rude?

I was queuing to buy a ticket for a bus when a lady came along and very kindly offered her ticket (£8 worth). I confirmed the location with the kind lady and was mid conversation when the woman queuing behind me said, "I'll have it", and with that, kind lady handed it over to woman behind me. I was mid conversation about the ticket and think it was very rude that the woman behind then snaffled it. AIBU?

Should have been quicker!

And this is why I hate small talk.

Next time, say yes and take it.

She was probably busy and the lady behind you saved her from a tedious conversation.

PiastriThePastry · 27/12/2024 16:23

Mid conversation? How much conversation could be had about a ticket? No wonder she just passed the ticket to the other woman, what a waste of her time when she was just trying to be nice 🤣

Mid conversation about what? You had confirmed the location, that's all you need to accept surely

I'm with ticket lady. I'd want the interaction to be over and done as soon as possible, not to engage in the specifics about the ticket, either take it or don't.

Pancakeflipper · 27/12/2024 16:25

She just wanted rid of her ticket. In her eyes you dithered about and looks like in the eyes of the 'rude' woman, you were dithering.
She seized the day!

Ezlo · 27/12/2024 16:27

All I was asking was the details of the destination on the ticket to make sure it would get me to my destination.

Woman behind me did ask kind lady if she only had one when kind lady handed the ticket over.

No, fair fucks. She asked if the lady had another, not for yours and the lady had offered wanting a quick yes please or no thank you, not a discussion to ascertain if it covered your stop.

From someone who used to my offer paper travel cards at the end of the day if someone was queuing to buy a ticket, You snoozed and lost, I'm afraid. You could have accepted, checked, and passed it on if no good to you.

Hannah55r · 27/12/2024 17:16

Yeah she was rude BUT let's be honest you were r dithering and dawdling uhming and ahhing
If I offered something and someone dithered like that, I would just walk away tbh
Learn from it and be more decisive

No. You said " I confirmed the location with the kind lady". That's the point you should have said thanks and taken it. Instead you "and was mid conversation". You waffled and lost out. If i was giving something away I'd have handed it over to someone straight away so I could leave, not have a conversation.

Ugly way to be.
