Am I the only one who can't quite find the right Christmas Stocking for my daughters ?.

Another year and it feels like another epic fail. The stocking are all too small or too big or too something...

AIBU...if you have found the perfect Stocking HELP ME.

I bought one (well 2 copies of the same one due to MN tip) when they were babies and they just keep the same one.

We’ve always used a pair of tights! It’s what we had when we were children and now I do it for mine. Can get lots of odd shaped stuff in them!

Wish I’d done that!

My kids have ikea ones. Perfect size.

LivingDeadGirlUK · 23/12/2024 18:50

I got a set of 3 off Amazon.

ThinWomansBrain · 23/12/2024 18:52

we used to have pillow cases growing up.

doodleschnoodle · 23/12/2024 19:11

Ours are from Great Little Trading Company but they are quite large.

doodleschnoodle · 23/12/2024 19:12

And yes we have two of each DC's stockings so we can pre-stuff ahead of Christmas Eve and then just swap with the empty 'stunt' stocking. Saves faffing and the risk they might wake up during the stocking stuffing!

I used to have this growing up! But we have ones from Jojo now which are fine. You just need to choose what goes in the stocking, obviously a massive box isn't going to fit so that needs to be a present for under the tree.

Bollihobs · 23/12/2024 19:15

Pillow cases are the easy option - empty one for lights out, swap it for the full one once they're asleep - takes seconds.

JumboMumbo3467 · 23/12/2024 19:17

I like the pillow case idea. I guess you can buy red ones and then personalise them

TeenLifeMum · 23/12/2024 19:19

We used to use pillow cases until dm made my dc some.

Poisonwood · 23/12/2024 19:19

We have always cut the legs off women’s 100 denier tights and used them. Cheerful red, or Christmassy designs, black for any moody teen lol. That way you get two “stockings”, one to hang up by fire and one to have ready filled in a cupboard so you just swap and lay the filled ones out before you go to bed and no work needed!

DetestTheClockChange · 23/12/2024 19:22

We use pillow cases - I have a special one from when I was tiny that I 'inherited' as a grown up. Our oldest DC has that, and their grandparents bought younger DC a similar modern day version.

My brother has the matching 'boy's' one and he uses it for his DS.

I feel so nostalgic every Christmas - the pillow case alone takes me right back.

Pillow cases are pushing 50 years old this year'

iPreferBooks · 23/12/2024 19:23

We always had pillow cases here as well! Always remember going to choose which one of my character pillowcases I'd like Santa to use for prezzies Xmas Smile

Bournetilly · 23/12/2024 19:24

I got some from next last year, they are a good size.

sunshineandshowers40 · 23/12/2024 19:24

We had pillow cases as a child. My DC leave a stocking out, which Father Christmas swaps with a matching sack.

WhamBamThankU · 23/12/2024 19:24

I had a pillowcase too until I was about 8, I loved it! And it wasn't filled to the brim. My kids have one from the range, fits a decent amount in and anything that won't fit I just wrap as normal presents

whyamiawakestillitssolate · 23/12/2024 19:25

I think I updated our old too small stockings last year and bought my dds velvety red sack type from Sainsbury’s - there might be something similar still in the supermarkets this year?

imnotwhoyouthinkiam · 23/12/2024 19:27

We had Christmas pillow cases as children. My own DC have got beautiful handmade stockings that my mum made. They are just about big enough to fit a 3 month old baby in DS2. Santa only brings small things here though so they all fit.
