AIBU to think more and more people don't think the rules don't apply, to them lately?

YANBU people have allways been like this, and I'm just noticing it more, due to social media.

For example last week we had our road dug up for Gas work, so cones were put down on half the road to stop people parking. Lots of cars ignored them or moved them to park.

Today I took the dog out to a local field and the amount of dog mess had increased lots since last time there. been there lots of times

Or people driving through local road diversions. (Local police are on to that one).

This type of person has probably been spoiled, indulged and mollycoddled during childhood, a childhood which does not prepare them for the responsibilities of adulthood. Not that I'm making excuses for these arrogant, selfish bastards. How they aren't rehabilitated without a cricket bat and a pencil, I don't know.

People got really fucking fed up with being asked to follow a lot of really silly rules during lockdown, then they found out the people making said silly rules weren’t following them themselves, so they got even more pissed off, then prices went up and all the shops shut and life got more shit, so now they tend to not give a shit about following any rules at all. It’s a reaction.
Not that I have an opinion one way or another in what they should or shouldn’t do.

Depends on the rules... for example, the fucking red and green lights on the door of a supermarket to signal to walk in during covid. I drove past and drove home, guffowing at about 60 or so morons standing in the pissing rain outside as the little green light pinged on at completely random intervals... whilst the supermarket car park was about 10% full.

Come to think of it, I think covid made rebels of a lot of people - who started to really question WHY!?

I’ll obey any rule I can see the point of. If I don’t think it makes sense I won’t.

Melodyfair · 21/12/2024 22:04

Depends on the rule, so…..

Don’t run into the burning hot spring, keep behind the rail, ok, that’s a rule to follow.

Bow, curtsy and follow protocol to royals or lady this or lord that, keep out their way, don’t speak unless spoken to as they won the birth lottery for some reason, well fuck that!

madroid · 21/12/2024 22:20

Hmmm, that's me quite often, but then I do get stuff done that other people say can't be done so it can be useful.

I've always chosen my rules.

Oddly the rule breakers often make the biggest fuss when other people don't follow rules. X may think it's fine to break a rule that suits them and then doesn't think it's fair when Y breaks a rule that works in X's favour. And of course that's the point.
