Don't know where to post this response from Costa Coffee about 'that' incident

So I emailed Costa customer service to voice my concern at the allegations bought against them by the breastfeeding mother and got the response below. Quite impressed to get a response. Did anyone else get one ?

Dear Ms xxxx
Following the allegations brought to us by a local newspaper last
week, please be assured that we have now concluded a full
investigation of this unfortunate situation and talked
extensively to all the staff on duty last week. We can confirm
that at no time was the lady in question asked to leave the store
by any member of the Costa staff.

We are saddened that this incident has arisen because around 40%
of customers in the Dolphin Centre Costa store are Mothers who
bring in children of all ages and they are always warmly
welcomed. We provide nappy changing facilities; our staff will
warm bottles for mothers, deliver drinks to their tables and go
out of our way to accommodate families. In fact we do everything
possible in all stores to encourage mothers and children visiting
Costa.

We have always been very happy for mothers to breast feed in our
stores and this lady, who is a regular and valued customer, is no
exception. In fact, we have received a huge amount of feedback
from other customers of this particular store since this
interview praising us for the level of customer service we offer
and the encouragement we have always given to breastfeeding
mothers.

I would like to thank you for contacting us with your feedback.

Regards

Interesting. I haven't received a response to my email yet so maybe they're working through them.

So what DID happen then? Was the woman making it up?

mousemole · 01/05/2008 18:13

I dont know what happened. Would she really appear on tv and radio if it was made up ?

no I havn't received a reply. TBH I don't believe them.

AbbeyA · 01/05/2008 18:26

I haven't had a reply to my email yet. I think that it is cleverly worded, if she was in fact told to stop breast feeding she was in effect being told to leave the store because she could hardly drink her coffee while the poor baby was in distress.

WilfSell · 01/05/2008 18:39

ah yes, that is different. But the last para does seem quite supportive so I'm still confused...

mousemole · 01/05/2008 18:41

yes I dont remember the contention being about her being asked to leave, more about being asked to stop breastfeeding which they dont deny.

I was confused by this story as I have seen many women breastfeeding in quite a few costa stores and always thought them to be good where parents/babies are concerned. Somewhere last week I read that people were saying she was making it up. If she was telling the truth, it sounds more like a stupid server than a across the board policy
