High fever but fine within himself ?

My 3YO has had a temperature since Wednesday night ranging from 38.8-37.8 throughout the day and night. He has a runny nose/cough. Doctors have said viral. He is ok within himself, happy and eating/drinking but temperature doesn’t seem to be coming down much with medicine. It says it’s a concern online if temperatures don’t come down with medicine but little one is fine within himself. Any one else experience this?

I would just keep an eye on him for now. Probably is viral.
Make sure he's drinking and weeing.
If he's still the same in another 24h, or gets worse. then probably call 111 in case he needs antibiotics

NICE guidance now is "Consider using either paracetamol or ibuprofen in children with fever who appear distressed" "Do not use antipyretic agents with the sole aim of reducing body temperature in children with fever" - ie give them if the child is feeling rubbish but not just if they are hot. If he's feeling OK then as above - keep an eye, plenty of fluids, watch out for deterioration - the full guidance is here:
