Feeling awkward about builders in my house

Hi all,

We’re having some work done on our new build knocking walls down and opening up the kitchen and while I trust the builder we’ve chosen, I feel so awkward having strangers in my house all day, I offer them tea and coffee but feel uneasy even doing that and it doesn't help that he's attractive too!
I work from home, so I’m constantly aware of the noise and disruption, and I get almost shy, to the point I don’t even want to use my own toilet to have a shit in case they hear it lol!

Is it normal to feel like this? Any tips on handling it without seeming rude

If you need building work done then there’s not really any way around having builders in the house, so it’s just a matter of grinning and bearing it.

If you feel awkward about offering tea and coffee, go and buy a cheap kettle and some tea / coffee / biscuits etc to put in whatever room they’re working on and tell them to help themselves whenever they want - I’ve always done that so that I can work interrupted or go out and know they can sort themselves out. And your bathroom habits are not even going to register - builders are used to working in all sorts of disarray and among all sorts of household activity, they’re immune to it all!
