To ask you engage with Instagram Influencers

I have been into health and fitness for a while now and follow quite a few Insta pages focused on nutrition, pilates and strength training. But nearly always I get a " Just checking in. How can I support you?" message. And it's doing my head in and actually stopping me from following other potentially useful pages.

It's not in my nature to ignore people and I used to respond, but inevitably it leads to " Can I ask you more questions" and I know they probably want me to sign up to something which I can't afford and also I just want to view the free content. But am I being out of order by not engaging and not signing up to things and just wanting the free stuff?

I am quite new to Insta really so would really value advice on how to navigate this

What pages are you following? I follow many health and fitness pages and never been messaged along those lines

If I did get one I would likely ignore it as it’s probably a bot and not actually a real person

Don't engage. I never answer stuff like this.

See it as advertising. If you were reading tips on a blog and had to give your email to read it - would you feel bad not replying to a mass email sent out? Never. What you've been sent is probably a copy and paste. They will be sending it out to every new follower they get. Just don't engage.

A few times I have actually replied further down the line to enquire about prices etc (a long time after getting a blanket message that I ignored!) and it's never made me feel awkward/been mentioned I didn't reply in the first place.

I follow loads of coaches and have never been contacted. Try Holly Baxter, Biolayne, Sohee Fit and James Smith

I think that this sounds like spam, girl, just ignore them

They'll only be trying to sell you something

bryceQ · 18/12/2024 20:26

It's just automated. Just ignore it. You don't need to respond.

Ignore them, they won’t care, they are fishing for business.

Treat it like those emails you get when you leave something in your online shopping basket. The company don’t really care about you they just want to tempt you to buy it.

It's usually influencers with smaller followings. I won't name them as they have only ever been polite and civil. Well aside from one who chased me when I didn't reply for a week 😱

Glad to hear there is no obligation. I was starting to think maybe I was being a cf as it happens nearly every time
