Not-orangey chocolate orange - has anyone tried one?

Terry’s have brought out a non-orange chocolate orange and I’ve been given one at work. The proper ones are my favourite, and this one is… OK. Upon googling (slow evening 😄), I’ve learned that it’s also smaller AND more expensive than ordinary actually-orangey chocolate oranges.

AIBU to wonder why you’d buy a smaller, more expensive version of a chocolate orange that isn’t even orange flavoured? What were Terry’s thinking? Where did they do their market research and who TF decided that what chocolate oranges needed was less orange?

I will still eat it in its entirety, because chocolate 🤷‍♀️ but really?

Also, I’m sure in the early 2000s they did a white chocolate version with multi-coloured crunchy sugar in it - wish they’d bring those back instead!

Does anyone know where you can get Segsations? They used to do bags of assorted flavour segments but I can only find expensive ones online now.

weareallqueens · 16/12/2024 19:10

I've been trying to get a dark chocolate one but there are none in the shops anywhere.

SassK · 16/12/2024 19:33

The milk one is just meh. I love the chocolate orange though (enjoyed best just the right side of melted).

SybilTheSpy · 16/12/2024 19:35

I love mint chocolate but the mint 'orange' just tastes like toothpaste. I binned it.

Mint Lindor retain their crown.

Vaxtable · 16/12/2024 19:37

It’s ok

SybilTheSpy · 16/12/2024 19:37

Terry's chocolate is hardly premium stuff so I don't see the point of a milk chocolate version. The orange flavouring is what makes it more palatable.

charlieinthehaystack · 16/12/2024 19:42

call me a misery but i wish things would stick to what they are! ie the chocolate orange you say to someone oh id like a chocolate orange and you dont know what on earth to choose! if you want Jaffa cakes you dont know which one to say to buy! life is confusing enough as it is!

velodrome · 16/12/2024 19:48

I’d like Terry’s to do a Hazelnut flavour with nut bits in please. I resent how Lindor are the only eatable chocolate with flavours apart from TCOs.

Toneys chocoloney is rubbish chocolate so it can’t just be a case of you get what you pay for.

MisterPNumber23 · 16/12/2024 19:50

I love the milk one! ❤️❤️❤️❤️

curiouscat1987 · 16/12/2024 19:51

Does anyone remember the terrys chocolate orange eggs? They came in a little cardboard egg carton like real eggs and were the same size. The filling of the eggs was like a choc ganache i think? They were lovely!

gingerbreadd · 16/12/2024 19:51

I love the mint ones.

But then I love mint chocolate and dislike orange chocolate so…

UndeniablyGenX · 16/12/2024 19:54

I hate orange flavoured chocolate so I was interested to try the mint one - it was a bit sickly, I thought darker chocolate would have worked better.

MrsHero · 16/12/2024 20:07

I bought one by mistake (thought it was choc orange) and was VERY disappointed. It's not nice milk choc and tbh put me off the original a bit if that's what's underneath the orange flavouring!

Dramatic · 16/12/2024 20:09

I tried it and although I usually hate flavoured chocolate the orange one is actually better than the milk

SilverChampagne · 16/12/2024 20:10

Chocolate lemon
When did they do this?!

Norder · 16/12/2024 20:10

Can confirm the plain milk chocolate one is awful, not very good quality chocolate and and just doesn't taste nice. I do like the original orange flavour, but the plain one is a waste of money.

DameKatyDenisesClagnuts · 16/12/2024 20:10

I hated the mint one. Just wrong on all levels

BlueMum16 · 16/12/2024 20:12

My DS loves this. He doesn't like orange or mint chocolate so has never had a chocolate orange. By now doing a standard chocolate option it has widened their customer base.

Great idea.

MrsCarson · 16/12/2024 20:41

I like the non orange one. I like the orange one too. I just like chocolate in general.

Chocolate lemon
When did they do this?!

Edited

It was a long time ago. Probably early 80s. I wish they'd do it again. I think it only lasted for a few years and then they discontinued it.

PearPartridge · 16/12/2024 20:51

I like the mint ones

KittenOnTheTable · 16/12/2024 23:23

I'm allergic yo orange. They use orange oil to flavour it. Would be perfect for me

another79 · 17/12/2024 17:36

There's no reason for them to do this!

I still can't get over the fact they discontinued Pyramints 30 years ago.
