To ask if anyone wants to talk about "the drones" ?

MistressoftheDarkSide · 14/12/2024 17:44

Distracting myself from my rather hideous real life, I've been poking around YouTube and am quite interested in all the apparent drone sightings mainly in the US but also apparently over here to a lesser to degree.

Obviously some of the pictures and alleged video footage are misidentified aircraft, but NJ in the US are having quite the conniption over some of what they're seeing.

I'm an open minded sceptic, but the amount if traction this is getting is intriguing.

Theories are that it's military testing of new tech, or even civilian testing, but official statements imply that TPTB don't actually know what's going on. I find that weird, given all the sophisticated tech we have for surveillance and tracking, especially given how busy airspace is in general.

Anyway just wondered if anybody else was curious about it all - or have you seen anything weird? I haven't - I'm under the flight path of our local airport and we seem to be "drone free" lol. Always wondered about "aliens" but not obsessed or anything.

Given the current state of the world, maybe I should add alien invasion to my "you couldn't make this shit up" bingo card - I have about three spots left to call "house" after some of the stuff I've been dealing with.

Anyway, have at it :

YABU - you're a tinfoil hat wearing nutter and should get out more.

YANBU - there are more things in Heaven and Earth, Horatio......

There's been a thread going on for a while

I think most of us are in the "US govt but they don't want to say" bracket. But we've also recognised the suggestibility/mass hysteria aspect. I'm not watching any mainstream media stuff as per usual but I have seen politicians talking about it.

Thankyou! That's my thread.

stargazerlil · 14/12/2024 20:37

I’m not concerned aliens are dimensionally different.

MarleyAndMarleyWoohooohooohooohoooo · 14/12/2024 20:51

It’s interesting. There have been some claims that have been immediately shut down - Iran and a mothership, UAPs sighted coming out of the ocean by the coastguard and following a coastguard ship.

There have been reports (apparently) that this is happening in several US states, US air bases in UK, military bases in Germany, reports from Russia, Kazakhstan and Japan. Unsubstantiated claims that an F16 flew to intercept one over Lakenheath but it flew off quicker than a drone should be able to.

One crashed and took two hazmat teams 12 hours to clean up (according to several
tiktok accounts).

Whatever’s going on it’s unlikely that we’re going to know the full story because whatever it is will be, to a large extent, classified.

TwoLeftSocksWithHoles · 14/12/2024 21:00

I wonder if it isn't mischievous little fellows mucking about. If it was something sinister they wouldn't have lights on.

Better that these chaps (as I suspect they are) play with drones than automatic rifles, I suppose.

MistressoftheDarkSide · 14/12/2024 21:04

It is starting to look like a modern Roswell myth is starting. To be fair these days we don't know just how far technology has been developed. My dear old Nana used to say that anything we're seeing now is at least 10 - 15 years old in terms of development because most stuff comes from the military industrial complex.

I am really surprised that in the US nobody's brought one down and plastered it all over TikTok, given the alleged numbers being reported. Or maybe they have and it's been suppressed.

But honestly, I do wonder why TPTB can't just pick a story and stick with it - although trust in government etc is pretty low. Honestly I'm glad I'm old as very little makes sense to me these days - I'm 55 and feel 110!!!

@MistressoftheDarkSide "But honestly, I do wonder why TPTB can't just pick a story and stick with it - although trust in government etc is pretty low"

but you do know why!

As a USian, I'm shocked nobody's been shooting at them.

NYC or Philly or DC, those things are toast.

Hahaha they’re flying at the speed of light! Don’t be so utterly ridiculous

CleverGreyDuck · 15/12/2024 01:31

It’s such a rabbit hole - I sometimes feel like the more outlandish conspiracy theories are there as a divide and conquer tactic to keep people distracted and arguing

Heh, yes, I suppose I keep hoping that things will start to make sense at some point, because all of the current theories being proposed, aliens excepted, point to a serious potential escalation of hostilities from potential bad actors being done by stealth and in a way where any "reaction" might light the blue touch paper.

When I watched "Leave the World Behind" it was almost a blueprint for modern warfare - hugely exaggerated of course, but commensurate with all the new shiny military toys being churned out at a rate of knotts, all the technology, the AI being consistently honed.

But very few people want to believe any of it is possible.

If these drones are just being tested by a private company then the authorities would be asking them to do it elsewhere away from populated areas etc due to obvious risk.

If it's a government initiative and they are hiding it from the populous, well, that's its own set of problems.

If its criminals of any sort - surely law enforcement or the alphabet agencies can't be completely clueless.

If it's foreign powers and they can do whatever they like because "diplomatic incident / declaration of war" fears, it makes the concept of any sort of defence pretty moot.

If it's any sort of psy-op then God help us.

Currently aliens is actually looking potentially like the lesser of multiple evils.

Haven't seen this on news or anything but the other day going to school DCs pointed out lots of plane trails going straight up and down instead of across the sky - had never seen anything like it before

candycane222 · 15/12/2024 09:17

As an aside that Guardian article you shared @MistressoftheDarkSide is a classic example of terrible journalistic standards by the US edition of the Guardian. Complete failure to separate fact from hearsay. Absolutely basic first thing you (used to) learn as a journalist.

Makes their articles totally unreadable IMO.

And it's because this is such an interesting subject they should be more careful . - not throwing any shade at you OP!

jinglejanglejo · 15/12/2024 09:21

America is crazy and has voted in their crazy leader to take them over the abyss.

It's the fall of the Roman Empire on speed dial.

MistressoftheDarkSide · 15/12/2024 16:48

Chatter on conspiracy forums has come up with a theory that these drones are indeed military and looking for tge signatures from potential dirty bombs coming into ports hence the main sightings being coastal.

It's getting weirder and weirder.

Psy op is another firm favourite.

Even if it is mass "hysteria" (obviously not a fan of the etymology of the word), then it's apparently affecting lots of officials too, as state governors and Congress members are shouting just as loudly as the alleged tin foil hatters.

Fascinating.

So, unidentified aircraft appear over the country with most advanced military on the planet, no fighter jets seemingly scrambled and no clue to where they come from or go to.

I call absolute twaddle and typical fearmongering.

bluegreygreen · 15/12/2024 17:45

Misdirection - what interesting stuff is happening elsewhere that TPTB don't want you to watch?

bluegreygreen · 15/12/2024 17:46

Alternatively ...

To ask if anyone wants to talk about "the drones" ?
Sinkintotheswamp · 15/12/2024 17:47

It'll probably be a small group of smart arse techies.

PomandersandRedRibbon · 15/12/2024 18:03

I'm interested also op, but I cannot fathom why the us government would want to frighten people and do this without some explanation?

Igotjelly · 15/12/2024 18:13

Since the Gatwick fiasco a few years ago I've been very sceptical about drone sightings.

This major airport was closed for days with talk of Russians, Al Quaida, etc but no footage was ever produced to show any drones made an appearance at all on those days.

Thousands of passengers, staff, and police, all with mobile phones but no authentic footage.

JetskiSkyJumper · 16/12/2024 15:27

I don't understand why they aren't sending aircraft or their own drones up to check them out?
