I was on social media yesterday and noticed an old friend selling Xmas tat. I was surprised it must have cost a couple of quid to make and charging £20. I didn't like or comment. No proceeds going to charity.

Then hours later she messaged to ask how I was doing. I said fine thanks, how was she doing? Then she proceeded to msg me abt what she was selling and would I like to buy. Is it me or is this cheekyfuckery of the highest order?

Yes it's you.
You dont know any of her reasons for making and selling items.
Sure you would have replied oh I don't need TAT.
No, didn't think so.

Yabu not to share a photo of it!

Just say you’re all sorted for Christmas and wish her luck.

I would share but it's too outing.

I think it's one thing to sell online but quite another to inbox and try to pressure friends to buy. Especially when you haven't spoken to them in years

She probably saw that you had looked at her items - its direct marketing to someone who had already engaged with the product !

No I hadn't. It was on Facebook. I scrolled straight past.

I wouldn't have messaged a friend to buy my "tat" but I also don't have any friends who would say "oh this only costs a couple of quid to make". They are well aware of the skill and time that goes into making my product and do their best to support me if not by buying from me, then with compliments and encouragement. So yeah, both of you should probably get better friends.
