Anyone who’s ever worked in childcare, is this normal?

That some staff are bitchy and make digs. I was meant to go into another room but was 10 mins late as it wasn’t showing on the rota so a member of staff came and got me and said to another staff ‘she’s going into the other room, yeah it was on the rota’ and made a rolling eyes face. I just said ‘the rota wasn’t up yet this morning so I didn’t know I needed to cover the other room’. It’s not just that though, this one member of staff in particular is always making sly digs, even when the other member of staff they are bitching about is present. Is this common in nurseries?

I’m struggling with it as I try to get on with everyone and I’m not confrontational at all.

I'd say it's normal in every workplace, unfortunately. And you either need to call them out on it and stand up for yourself or ignore them and don't let them get to you

Yes - totally normal and the reason most of us leave
