To be p***ed off at my company

I’ve been off work with an industrial injury. I’m currently receiving sick pay from the welfare as my works sick pay benefit stopped after 6 weeks. It has been a struggle especially on the run up to Christmas.
although my injury is 100% not my fault (it’s all on security camera) I decided I wasn’t going to make a claim. To be honest I like my job and feel that if I did make a claim it would be awkward working there going forward. The one thing that kept me going was knowing we get a Christmas bonus (that we have to spend in the place I work) so I was looking forward to it so that I could get things in for Christmas. So today I receive my bonus and it was way down on last year. After talking to other staff I was told they base it on your wage throughout the year.
aibu to have expected the same bonus as last year? I’m off through no fault of my own. It’s making me re think whether to take them to court. (For the record I’m married and dh is self employed and off himself after having surgery so we are struggling financially) .
Advice please.

Why aren't you making a claim? Won't their insurance pay out? What was the accident?

Make a claim there not bothered about you

I slipped and fell on something that another colleague hadn’t cleared up

I think you tried to do the noble thing assuming that you would be given the same courtesy which, clearly, you were not.

Gather evidence and get speaking to a good solicitor!

Well if they're going to shaft you, I think you would be daft not to claim against them. Its nothing personal and companies have insurance to cover them against such claims.

I hope you are on the mend soon.

You should be making a claim

Aw this happened to me last year, I'd been off to care for my dying mum. I'd put a claim in, itl be their insurers that pay it not out the company bank.
