On hearing of my mispent youth which included having dd on my own aged 30 then only settling down with dh in my 40s, dd announced that I had a Brat summer for 20 odd years.

This tickled me...she's not wrong.

16yo DS said yesterday that this was exactly like in Nineteen Eighty-four. I'd asked him to stop watching YouTube and load the dishwasher.

I wouldn't mind if he'd actually read the book, which I gave him several months ago, but he admits he hasn't!

I took DS16 to the GP this morning for something toilet related. The GP said she had to ask him some questions he may not want his Mum there for and I said I would wait outside if DS preferred (he did).
When he came out he relayed to me in great details the questions and his answers (I didn't ask) so I have no idea what the point of that was.

Reminds me of the time I took my daughter to the doctors aged 13, at one point during the conversation the doctor said “how old are you? 16?” We obviously corrected him. when we came out I commented “at least we know it’s nothing serious” - my daughter relied “ and now I know I can pass for 16” !!

🤣

when my daughter aged 16 realised she could pass for 18, she had that exact same reaction. It was the best news ever for her!

DD calls me her Little Woman, I am short, 5ft, she's 5'1, maybe 5'4 if she's got her clumpy trainers on 😂

DD had a brilliant one today. I fell about laughing.
I told her she was special to me and she said
"You're special to everyone". 🤣.
