Anyone taken this and had to do a fasting blood test for Lipid levels?

Do the results need to be normal range? As I think mine will be too high...

Should I just diet for a month? Eat healthy.... Ahhhh

I took isotretinoin years ago, no blood tests

Following as Derm has suggested I potentially need but not sure gp will do the blood tests..

I had to do one for roaccutane yes, then regular blood tests. Just have the test then diet after if necessary! I thought it was to check liver function to then see if the meds have any adverse effect once you start on it.

My dd aged 16 at the time had semi regular blood tests whilst on roaccutane. She was never told to do anything specific for them.

My DC is on this currently under a private dermatologist.

He doesn't believe in having the blood tests as they aren't reliable in his opinion (very senior dermatologist with over 40 years practising in the nhs) so dc hasn't had them & has been on it for just over 6 months now.

Side effects are dry lips only & skin is amazing. Well worth the money!!

Apparently the medication can make your cholesterol high, so it's not good for it be high before starting.
And I need to take pregnancy test every 4 weeks! Crazy as I'm single and no plans.

Yeh I'll just have to see. My diet is quite carb heavy, so I need to cut down anyway.

It's not even for acne.

Did you always have to fast before blood tests? How often were the bloods to start with?

Just the first one was fasted, thank god as I fainted after it! I can’t actually remember how often I had to have the blood tests but looking at my calendar it seems to have been every 6 months, it certainly wasn’t monthly

FlakyJadeSnail · 05/12/2024 18:32

I have done roaccutane more than once and vaguely remember doing some bloods but they made me sign a pregnancy waiver and then I was just kind of left to it to finish the course

Spondoolies · 05/12/2024 18:47

I had to be on contraceptive (depo, coil or implant) and they sent me a monthly pregnancy test to do at home and text a photo of it. Not sure how this is evidence as you could easily fake a negative result, they either trust you or they don’t!
