Aibu to not understand what "intimacy" means?

Chat with friends over a drink or two and talk turns to "intimacy" within a relationship.
Consensus was that for men it basically means sex, but for women it's more, but difficult to define.
So what do you mean when you refer to intimacy in a relationship?

All those little moments, can be a conversation sometimes, holding hands, remembering to still hug/cuddle regularly. That closeness between you basically, yes it also includes sex of course but there's more to it than that.

Anything you do with your significant other that isn’t sex but isn’t something you would go with anyone else in your life.
Plus hugging and hand holding.

Being vulnerable Infront of eachother

It seems to be used as a coy euphemism for sex on here.

I find prolonged eye contact very intimate

Sex that isn’t necessarily penetrative.

Kissing, touching, sex, loving words, cosiness, togetherness.

Sex is just sex to me im single and live alone so i really dont care.

Affection and emotional/physical closeness. I remember with my ex it was a problem because he was happy to just go about our daily routine and jump into bed, and didn't understand why I needed more than that.

In a non sexual relationship, intimacy means sharing the bits of my life I dont really want everyone to know.

I think sex and intimacy are very different
Sex can be just sex
Intimacy is the little things, the eye contact, brushing someone's hair out their face, hand holding, the small gestures
