She’s lovely but oh god … I cannot do ANYTHING.

I am looking at my complete tip of a house with clothes flung all over the place, dishes piled high, surfaces covered in crap and desperate to start cleaning and she just won’t let me do ANYTHING! She’s 17 months and just wants me to pick her up and carry her around constantly.

(no, she won’t go in a carrier and no, she won’t be involved in chores.)

I am praying she’ll go down for a nap soon but I don’t think she will so I’ll have to drive around.

I've been there. It is exhausting :(

And people whose kids aren't like this don't understand.

It did get better though

I know … I keep having to remind myself she’s not going to be following me around crying to be picked up at 10 or anything but I just feel so drained, I feel like she’s in my face 24/7 which is horrible as I do love her but it’s a lot.

Do you have a toddler tower? We got one so our son can stand at the kitchen counter whilst we prepare food or wash up etc. That could help you get stuff done whilst she also feel involved maybe?
Also, don’t feel bad about popping the tv on or giving snacks to entertain her for 5 mins whilst you’re quickly loading the dishwasher or something. I usually find that if my son is drinking a smoothie, eating some berries or toddler crisps, and watching something like Hey Duggee, I tend to have one episodes worth of peace to get stuff done! Sometimes you just need those few moments to do something.
But, like pp said, it does get better. She’ll start learning to entertain herself, or to join in with the chores. We bought our son a mini broom so he ‘helps’ sweep the floor when I do that.
