My toenails have weird black lines on them

Hi, so around about 2 months ago I noticed my toe nails were starting to go black, it’s now in a line my toe nail appears to be coming away half way down and I can’t find anything relatable.

i am going to book a doctors appointment I have kept putting it off as I am always working in gp hours and the gp is not open weekends.

I haven’t had an injury to them either that I know off

I also have fake tan on which has caused my toe nails to yellow a bit*

Are you a runner? My DH sometimes loses toenails, and they start out looking like this. It's from his toes pressing against his trainers when he runs (he's quite a brutal runner)

I do use the treadmill around 3-4 times a week - for half an hour on the highest incline. Sometimes I do this bare footed aswell as I get a better grip. Thankyou I didn’t think about this

Glad to hear you’re going to book a gp appointment. It’s important to get this checked out.

It looks like an injury to the nail bed. If that's the case it will grow out. As it grows, dead blood may come out, like a scab, but you might want to look at your footwear and/or running technique.
