Early start- while having breakfast before work. Watching this and to be honest my initial feelings about him have not improved at all.

Totally out of touch with reality as is his Wife. And I'm not going to lie, his youngest kids seems totally feral. One made a joke about council flats.

The man and his wife having everything done for them by dogsbody's- so relived he didn't retain his seat. Bell 🔚

I've just started watching.

1m 58s in and I wanted to punch his nose and all of his family into reality.

On what level does he honestly think that he can engage with the Average Joe?

He has servants, a driver, three kids in boarding school, three in day school. Talk about Downton Abbey revival!

No idea of real life. None.

And six children? MNs are struggling with one. And to take his children to Boris's 60th birthday party and postponing his own 12yr olds birthday??

I thought we'd moved on from the aristocracy ruling the paupers. It's never going to change.

Regalrosie · 03/12/2024 18:39

Vile man!

Serpentstooth · 02/05/2025 13:27

Rees-Mogg whose grandad was a lorry driver? That one? Understand he married well.

This. They have people fighting over scraps, whilst they watch from the safety of their towers, hiding in plain sight, hoarding more, and more resources for them, and theirs.

ReplacementBusService · 02/05/2025 13:34

How did you manage to swallow your breakfast? I feel mild nausea just thinking about it 😏

Whoarethoseguys · 02/05/2025 13:38

I didn't watch and have no desire to but no one who lets their very rich and extremely privileged children make snide remarks about council flats should ever be allowed anywhere near Government again.

Rees-Mogg whose grandad was a lorry driver? That one? Understand he married well.

His father's family were wealthy his father was a life peer he bought a country estate and his children were brought up by a nanny. He is used to privilege and has never experienced poverty or hardship
I think his mother's father was a lorry driver at one point but I wouldn't say Rees Mogg had a working class background.

Serpentstooth · 02/05/2025 14:04

Daddy says the dead tenants of Grenfell should have used their common sense to leave the building instead of obeying the Fire Service advice to stay put. Smirk. He said this in a radio broadcast and later had to apologise for it. However, if that's what devout RC Rees-Mogg believes, then it's no surprise that he's spreading the contempt to his children. Odious man.

Serpentstooth · 02/05/2025 14:07

Of course he didn't have a working class background, I mentioned grandpa for the incongruity. He'll be airbrushed out In a couple of generations.

Maitri108 · 02/05/2025 15:22

That's Tories for you.

Pandimoanymum · 02/05/2025 15:28

He's dreadful. I cannot bear him. I saw a bit of this programme months ago, can't remember what channel and it merely confirmed my initial feelings about him.

YouOKHun · 02/05/2025 15:46

Private Eye magazine refers to him as “The Haunted Pencil”.

turningpoints · 02/05/2025 18:54

What channel is this on?

Ihateboris · 02/05/2025 20:02

Anyone remember when he fell asleep in the House of Commons?

Yep. This is where all the pretence comes from - a loathing of his own background. Pathetic man.
