To not buy a new mattress?

Sorry for the shameless traffic post but I'm dithering!

I have a 19 month old who's just about to go into a toddler bed, we need the cot for a baby due in the spring. I wasn't sure if I needed to buy a new cot mattress but when I checked the Lullaby Trust website it seems to only talk about second hand mattresses from outside the home. That's obviously not the situation here, so my thinking is that using our current mattress is fine?

We bought it new, it's always had a waterproof cover, DS has never been especially sicky and it's never been in a loft/garage etc, always just in his room. I have bought a new moses basket mattress because MIL stored the moses basket in the garage which we know has mice 🤢.

What would you do?

Yabu - buy a new one!
Yanbu - the one you have is fine!

Have you given it a good check over? If it's totally flat like new then I'd be inclined to say it should be fine, however if it has any 'dents' from being laid on, I'd get new.

Although tbh, I'd buy new to save myself the worry.
