to ask for help with a secret santa gift

I have a really lovely man as my secret santa - but I don't know him that well.
Here's things I know about him
he coaches football for his son's team at weekends
Loves history
Likes football - I can find out what team he supports
Very much a family man

I am not good at male presents at all - I don't know if he drinks alcohol - I would like to get him a nice useful gift- he does a lot for others at work and is a really calm rudder type of person.
Only idea I have so far is heated gloves for when it is cold at football, and part of our job means he is outside for some time each day.

Any ideas? Budget is £10-£15

I am in the same predicament! Only £5 tho which I think is difficult.
I think the heated gloves sound great.

Book token? If he likes history.

Someone has bought our colleague a little miss football team insulated cup for theirs. Something similar may be an idea?

Travel mug and coffee voucher

I wanted something a bit more personal than this- but this is a good call if I can't think of anything, Thank you!

Heated gloves or some other kind of pocket handwarming device would be nice - I coach kids football but have to keep track of scorers, subs etc on my phone so can never really have gloves on for too long. Maybe heated fingerless gloves if such a thing exists?

Or like extra cosy thermal socks?

TokyoSushi · 28/11/2024 10:48

Yes to the travel mug, very useful for/and popular at kids football.

charlieinthehaystack · 28/11/2024 10:49

my daughter does coaching too i know you can get texting gloves but whether heated or not i dont know, i would go for something like that or a warm pull on hat but the insulated mug great idea for half time warm up!

rbe78 · 28/11/2024 10:56

Insulated mug is a good idea in theory but 1) Surely we all have a shelf full of these at home? I know I do! and 2) For £10-15 if you get a coffee voucher too, you'll only have budget for a cheap crappy thermal mug, which will go right to the back of the shelf!

But if you do go down that route, these Bodum ones are the best thermal mugs I have come across - they don't absorb the smell of the drink you put in, and they keep genuinely warm for hours. Bodum 11068-01 Vacuum Travel Mug, 0.35 L - Small, Black, S (Pack of 1) : Amazon.co.uk: Home & Kitchen

crochetmonkey74 · 28/11/2024 10:58

yes to everyone having loads of travel mugs

It's quite tricky isn't it

Personalised whistle if he's a football coach?

You can get them with budget on etsy

crochetmonkey74 · 28/11/2024 12:05

ooh I think this could work

Ablondiebutagoody · 28/11/2024 12:25

Find out the team and buy a biography of a famous player from a previous era?

Gloves thing wouldn't work for a coach. They don't really wear them

reesewithoutaspoon · 28/11/2024 12:27

Thermal hat. Thermal socks

Have a look at Ordnance Survey Maps. There is a Great British History version with over 1500 visitable historical locations.
