Birthday events during school holidays

My DS's 6th birthday falls on Sunday 5th January, which just so happens to be the last day of the school Christmas holidays.

Thinking of throwing a smallish party at a local soft play.

Just wondering, whether it would be best to go ahead on the day or wait another week and throw the party once kids have been back at school for a bit.

Xx

Wait a week, everyone will be parties out or just getting back from visiting family or just likely to forget about it.

Id go for it, my kids would love a party to go to in the school hols.
Not everyone will be partied out or just getting back from visiting family, that's a strange assumption

I'd wait a week personally. That way you have a week to remind people and chase rsvps. A party invite given out before the holidays is likely to be forgotten about in amongst all the Christmas holiday chaos.

It's tricky to do the comms unless you are already friendly with the parents. People won't like to commit to that weekend before Christmas, and it's tricky to chase them up over Christmas hols. I would wait a week.

I’d ask his 3/4 key friends if they can make the 5th, and if they can I’d extend the invitation formally to the rest of the group. If the key pals can’t come I’d change the date.

This is what I've done too.
They all enjoyed seeing each other before school went back!

Thanks everyone. Like the idea of checking in with the bestie first. Keeping it small anyway.
