Blackcurrant squash tasted really bitter, almost like poison

I'm 24 weeks pregnant and feel.a bit out of sorts tonight. I had a glass of sainsburys cheap blackcurrant squash that I drunk earlier today and it is tasting g really bitter as if it's had chemicals or something poison put in it! My mouth was tasted horrible after and I had to use mouthwash. Does anyone know what it could have been? No one would have put anything in it and my glasses are rinsed of all washing up water after use

It could be the hormones (everything smelled so strong when I was pregnant) or you could be sickening for a cold or covid. Blackcurrant does tend to have overtones of cat piss so if your sense of taste is compromised that might dominate.

I developed dysgeusia during pregnancy. Could be that.

It's not great cos I love a glass of squash before bed 😪

Even Ribena branded has a weird taste now ( the full sugar one , I don't like diet drinks )

I'm not pregnant but my taste buds were shredded by Covid so might be me not the squash

It's probably just pregnancy hormones. Everything tasted wierd to me when I was pregnant, couldn't drink tea or coffee or squash, just water and ice cold lemonade!

My taste buds were all over the place when I was pregnant. Things I previously loved just tasted horrendous to me. Or they tasted different, or off.

It might be that the pregnancy hormones are making you taste the artificial sweeteners, which can be bitter. Taste is more sensitive in pregnancy so that mothers are more alert to food that is off/bacteria/contaminants/poisons etc. The body is amazing really!

I honestly think it’s the artificial sweeteners. I used to buy Tesco own brand cordial but few years back taste went completely off (same with Diet Coke)
i now buy ‘Rocks’ branded cordial. It’s expensive but only need a small amount. No artificial sweeteners just cane sugar. Tastes gorgeous! Can get it in Tesco, possibly Ocado?
