Toilet seat etiquette

Cantrememberoldusername · 22/11/2024 22:40

I work in residential care, our home is male only 18+

there are 35 male residents and 6 full
time support staff and I’m the only female on support staff.

we have 1 admin woman that works 1 day a week.

I’ve been here forever but she is fairly new

She has complained (all day) today that the toilet seat is always up and they should put it back down and she wants me (assistant manager) to tell all residents and staff because she doesn’t want to touch it

i think this is their home and i just work here and its not a big deal

do I really need to call a house meeting about toilet seats?

No because it's not her home. I am however with her on not putting the lid down afterwards. All those splashes with whatever is in there flying out when you flush 🤮

You're right. It's their home not hers. I wouldn't call a house meeting about it

No, but it's upsetting her, so you could sympathise rather than ignoring her. You could also ask residents (just once, no big drama) to put the seat down out of consideration for the women who use that loo. Maybe some of them will remember. You could also suggest that this woman covers her fingers with loo roll before putting the seat down herself.

She is talking about the seat, not the lid

The loos in our house are always left lid down. But I couldn’t get too bothered about anyone else’s.

Let them leave it up
