So we've come to Paris with two toddlers.

Everything went so well, they were well behaved, arrived in Paris all well and good.

A bit stressful but what travel day isn't?

Got to the hotel and realised DH has lost his £150 brand new rain coat .. he thinks he last had it on plane but it's definitely gone.

In the grand scheme of things it doesn't matter, we're all safe and well but it's just a bit gutting!

Please tell me your experience with losing something relatively expensive so I know I'm not alone!

Have you contacted the airline? It might be in lost property.

I lost two rings during a house move. Fairly sure it was the removals guys but couldn't prove anything. They weren't mega valuable but a few hundred each. I was gutted but in the end it's just stuff. Stuff gets lost, broken, stolen and in the grand scheme of things, its not a huge deal. I can't get worked up about it. I'm quite zen about a lot of things that I simply can't control. Enjoy your holiday.

I wore a new coat on a work trip to London. The train home split into two half way into the journey, with the back half going to one place and the front half going to where I wanted to go. I didn't realise and was sitting in the back half so had to move into the front section quickly - I left my coat behind. It's easily done.

I left my ipad in the seat pocket of a plane in July. Realised as I goy to passport control, went straight back to the gate and they refused to let me get it!! Said to put in a lost property request. Never saw it again. I am still furious now, fucking American Airlines. I told them exactly where it was, they said they didn't find it. Weirdly it is in lost mode but never had been switched on or connected to wifi

Travel insurance claim for his coat?

Baggage handlers at JFK opened my suitcase and stole jewellery and makeup. Had only just got the jewellery for 30th and some of the rest was sentimental too. Gutted.

Also Paris, when I was 18/19. First ever solo trip. Left my bloody rucksack on a coach with my favourite outfit/hoodie/Apple Watch/purse/most importantly... passport 🤪 Never got it back!

Not valuable, but I once left a library book on a BA flight from Germany to London. I was so annoyed I had to pay to replace it because it was a shit book 😂 (not of course that it matters, I lost it, I pay for it!)
