Can not believe the price of them now! Over £250!!!Last time I bought one was for £30 from a French supermarket. Cheaper options will surely do the same job, a cast iron pot is a cast iron pot. Any recommendations?

I have some Sainsbury’s. I really can’t tell the difference between them and my Le Creuset. Pro cook look okay to me, but I have never used them. Aldi and Lidl seem fine to me, too - but again, I haven’t used them.

We still use my grandmother's cast iron pot from... gasp... Soviet times. Circa 1950. We were gifted Le Cruset and it chipped within a few years.

Ditto. How they justify those prices for a pot that chips is beyond me. Who would pay that?

I have an Aldi one, bought years ago and still going strong. It'll outlive me.

The Times recently did a comparison, Robert Dyson 5/5. George 4/5, the George one is £29

It must be just marketing as you used to be able to buy it reasonably priced in any supermarket in France amongst cheap glasses and crockery. My mum had a huge collection.

We have a Vancasso one (huge) which is excellent and was a fraction of the price of Le Creuset.

Procook

I have an Aldi one but the coating has chipped off the underside of the lid. It's about 4 years old.
